“A real gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2013

Just had a short 4 night stay at the miramar , and what a delight it was. Although not the newest plushest hotel on jersey , it was excellent value for money. Clean rooms, very friendly/helpful staff, lovely view, Nice breakfast , ( we booked B&B as we planned to eat out each eve , so can't comment on other meals ), great pool and louge area, We decided to try getting about without hiring a car , and the hotel location was perfect , an easy stroll 5-10 mins and you are on brelade beach ( great for water sports ), 1-2 mins and you are at the bus stop ( very cheap fares too ), and you can even take a very scenic 30min walk down to st aubins ( get bus back tho , as it's uphill all the way ). Went with my wife , and two grown up kids , we all had a great time in jersey , and will definately be going back asap , and will not consider staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a sea view room, Not for the view, its just so that you are not at the rear of the hot...

We took my in-laws to see family in Jersey and had a good stay at The Miramar, it suited them vey well and we were happy too, the decor is somewhat dated but the friendly welcome and clean surroundings made up for that. The showers on the lower floors seemed to work well but the pressure on the top floor room was poor. The breakfast was fine, standard for the type of hotel. It was nice to be able to walk to the beach easily. Good value for us - 4 nights for the price of 3.

Stayed here in July. It is in a 70's time-warp in relation to its decor but it is clean. Our room was very small with a small budget bed and mattress and the bathroom was all avocado-coloured. The walls are also very thin and we could here the couple talking next door, but it was basically clean so I can forgive the other short-comings. This hotel attracts the older clientele and breakfast is geared up to that - you are served every aspect of your breakfast but I prefer to help myself to a buffet style. On busy mornings, service could be slow but they are very willing to get you what you want. Parking is also restricted immediately outside the hotel.

This hotel is very clean and friendly. The food was plentiful and served by lovely waiting staff. Our initial room 239 was very noisy as their were some very load guests in the bar but we were moved the next day as soon as we complained. Also the single beds were very hard, the doubles were fine though. Good bus service 1 minute up the road, if you are going to use them a lot it is worth getting a family bus pass,( at Liberation station.) each journey costs £1.40 per adult and £0.70 per child and you cannot get a return, you may need to get more than one bus each journey and the same for the way back. It then gets quite annoying and expensive. Also a Jersey pass is worth getting if you are thinking about doing a lot. The actual hotel was good value for money and in a great location to get to the beach, walking is good for you! Thanks for a lovely holiday.

Room Tip: sea views nice quiet rooms. avoid rooms above the bar and overlooking the car park.

This is a lovely hotel with very helpful staff. There is no entertainment if that is what you like. Nice clean pool and jacuzzi. Food is excellent and good value. Room was very clean, hard mattress was sorted with a duvet under the sheet. No air conditioning.
You have to fight your way through the smokers at the entrance when they are out, this is something i do not like having to do. Plenty of sun beds. Takes around 10 minutes to climb hill from the beach.
Room 105 has a balcony with table, chairs and parasol. It is south facing but looking at the roof of house in front of hotel and all you can see of the sea is the horizon. You can hear running water and banging pipes every time some is using a bathroom. The bathroom window looks out on to room 104 balcony which makes it badly designed and not pleasant for either room occupier. If you are unlucky to get noisy people in the room above, again you can hear them.
It has a steep hill to climb to get back from the beach. The bus stop is just at the top of the hill not far from the hotel and bus 15 gets you to St Helier or the airport.Runs every 15 mins.

Room Tip: Do not select room 104 or 105 unless you want the balcony. For a better view pick a room higher up a...

I come to jersey most years and i have stayed in many hotels , the Miramar Hotel was by far my favourite. Although the hotel is old fashioned it is very welcoming and it is very interesting to hear the story of the hotel! everyone that works there are lovely, and it is great to see a family hotel still up and running. I dont think people can really say this hotel isn't a beautiful site. The dining area is amazing and who doesn't love being waited on! I love this hotel and i love every quirk and experience in this place! I'm only 20 and I love to party with my friends but it is lovely coming back to a relaxing hotel! we shall see you next year :)

Room Tip: If you're someone who loves family run hotels and something a little bit different come here...

Staying at the Miramar is like stepping back in time. Our ground floor room, 110, looked recently decorated but in a style reminiscent of 20 years ago with lacy nets and frilly curtains. It was of a decent size but all the furniture was pushed down one end so there was hardly any space to get around the end of the bed. The mattress was unacceptably hard. Clearly I was not the first to complain as Management had a ready-made solution - a duvet placed over the mattress. This helped, but only a little. A flat screen TV and hospitality tray were provided but, like most UK hotels, no safe or fridge.

The bathroom looked new and was sparkling clean. The shower over the bath was not powered and there were no safety grab handles to help you in and out.

Free Wi-Fi was available in the reception area and this was strong enough to work in our room.

The bar and dining room are really dated. You are allocated a table number on arrival. No buffet here. Everything is waiter-served, even juice and cereal at breakfast. Despite a small army of staff, it is not unusual for people to have to wait for service. The cooked breakfast was very good, piping hot and fresh. We had dinner twice. This was no more than OK.

The hotel is built on a steep hill so the small, attractive pool and grassed area can only be reached by quite a few steps. Most people sat in the conservatory-lounge or on the small terrace outside which had distant sea views.

The staff on reception are extremely pleasant and helpful.

The beach area is reached on foot by walking down one of Jersey's 'Green Lanes'. It is a steep climb back up and I would recommend having a car to get about, particularly if the weather is hot. On first sight the car park looks cramped but there is an additional hotel parking area on the other side of the road marked as 'private'. This much space is quite a bonus in Jersey.
