Fantastic willow walk. Lovely Japanese garden. Great viewing platform over the herb garden. Lovely apple tree planting in shape of a boat! Very relaxing place.

The price of admission I feel is too high for what is available especially when there are so many other beautiful public gardens not a great distance away. The parts of the garden which were meant to be cultivated looked tatty and unkempt. There are only 2 tours of the Manor house in the day and if you are not aware of the timings then, like me, you may miss them ( there is also an additional charge for this tour). The small agricultural museum is also guided and only open at certain times so if you arrive early and were absolutely desperate to see it, then you would have to return as their is nowhere in the courtyard to sit and wait. I only stayed as long because a rain shower came on and I went into the café for a coffee until it passed. A disappointing experience at a cost!

My wife and I visit lots of gardens and so are able to recognise one that is worth a visit

This one was rated in the books as one of the best. Considering that this was August there was hardly any colour with minimal plants open. It might be better earlier in the year.
The Japanese gardens haven't been fully exploited and consist of a poor pagoda and shed. Luckily 2 red squirrels i. playing in this area playing made the visit.
The herb garden had a great viewing platform but there was nothing to see, an opportunity missed.

In the old kitchen garden you can see bees but I had to turn the tv on and tune it in and the image was then blocked by overgrown plants.
We had planned to spend the morning there, in the end it was about an hour.
High hopes , but lacking interest or flowers. Shame really.
