“Excellent !”
Reviewed 20 August 2014 via mobile

We didn't reserve but were lucky to find a table free. The staff were very friendly. The food was just simply delicious. I had the monkfish and scallops. ...just wished that had been more because it was heavenly. Don't go for the view , go for the food and it's freshness.

“best on jersey”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Fresh fish which was cooked very excellent. The spicy monk fish was so delilicious, even the deserts were fantastic. There should have been only Bistro Rosas on Jersey. We absololutely enjoyed being guests. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

“Inadequate”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

We visited Bistro Rosa when it was #1 on TA. We thought that after reading the reviews that we were missing out and thought - they must know a thing or two about seafood. When looking through the reviews on TA (especially recently) there requires a certain amount of self filtering – to read between the lines - and to see if you can discern from other peoples experiences if this would suit your needs. In this case we could not and now having been a patrons it is possible to formulate opinions of our own.

Service.
The service was poor in that the waitress did not understand restaurant etiquette - how to great people with a nod and a smile, direct them to the table, bring a menu, direct them to the specials of the day, generally ask questions to see what the requirements may be. It was as if (or actually was) they were a relative standing in for the real waitress. Filling glasses up to the brim would have been amusing if it was happening in a comedy sketch. A good command of language of the region was not apparent. It was truly ridiculous.

Food.
Being located within the Fish Market raises the expectations for the quality and freshness for seafood produce. There is a good selection of fish within the market, which can be whole or filleted fish and the shellfish may already be prepared (cooked). We ordered a whole crab, which had been in the refrigerated cabinet at the entrance at a very low temperature setting. It was almost frozen and had a pool of water sitting in the bottom of he shell (we suspect that it had been frozen previously and defrosted) and had lost all its taste as well and had the consistency of crabmeat that had been frozen and dried out. The salad can only be described as unacceptable – it was almost inedible in the choice of produce and made without care or thought. So disappointing as we seldom eat crab and mayonnaise for health reasons and it is always a special treat when we allow ourselves to have it.

Seating and Atmosphere.
The seating arrangements would be difficult for any owner as it is quite small and long. Thoughtless dragging of chairs and constant rearranging and discussions around how many covers were arriving, when we were eating was irritating beyond any reasonable level of tolerance. The entertainment was not subtle chosen music. It was radio 103 Jersey.

We struggled to be understood with the simplest of communications when endeavouring to gain service to eat and drink. Therefore we did not make any complaint at the time in the knowledge that there was little chance of being understood in terms of adequacy.

In our opinion this restaurant (café) has not the requisite knowledge, skills or experience to be serving fish purporting to be French in style.

This is not a restaurant to be recommended.

“A Real Gem”

A fantastic quirky restaurant inside the Indoor Market. We arrived quite late on a Saturday evening but were made very welcome and didn't feel rushed. The service was very good and the food quality exceptional. The lobster was delicious!

“Super little restaurant”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

Had a superb fish lunch in this restaurant situated in the fish market, okay you may have to wait a little while as one waitress takes care of all the tables, but food excellent. Interesting fact was four tables near us were taken by French people who were loving the simple but well cooked food. Good wine selection.
We have only had lunch here but friends who live in Jersey told us that in the evenings they put tables in the market passageway.
Would certainly return the scallops and fish were first class
