“Clean and friendly if you can ignore the noise”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2011

We booked a short break at the Savoy. The room was clean and we found the staff friendly but we were in a room facing the road and the fire/police station and to say it was noisy was an understatement. Being woken at 3.30 am by the tannoy was not nice!

The double glazing worked to a point but it was very warm during our stay and to stop ourselves from frying we had to have the windows open. Ceiling fans definately required!

Also disturbed by loud snoring from the room next door.

Only other problem was the rooms were advertised with Wi Fi access and the hotel guide advised us to contact reception if we could not get a signal - we did but nothing happened!

My husband and I stayed at the savoy for 4 nights, it was the most special time spent together, we were waited on hand and foot, hotel spotless, staff so freiendly and always appear willing, I will hold those four days to my heart forever, thankyou to the fantasic hotel and staff, and final addition what a beautiful place jersey is, I will definately be going back, it stole our hearts.....on the downside, the receptionist monica was rude and also double charged us for a room, the manager was quick to refund and very sorry although monica seemed to hold this against us the rest of our stay!

We have had a fantastic holiday staying at the Savoy. The staff are very helpful and polite at all times. We ate in the restaurant twice and the food was good although we would have liked more choice.Breakfast was very good with a good selection, I loved the Gurnsey gash. The room was very clean with a refreshment tray ,iron ,and ironing board t.v. and a safe .Towels are changed daily as are the pillow cases.Although the hotel is opposite the police ans fire station we didn't have any problems from noise.. Our room was in the annex and overlooked the pool ,the corridor outside our room had carpet so again noise was not a problem. The new manager understands what people expect from a four star hotel and we feel sure he will make the Savoy the place to stay in Jersey.Thank you Mr Brooke and everyone at The Savoy See you next year.

Room Tip: Ring first and ask for a room overlooking the pool

Having stayed at The Savoy for many years I was very impressed by the recent upgrading of the hotel.

The bedrooms are very comfortable - especially the bed! - and they are clean and very modern.

Breakfast was first class - the full English tasty and not swimming in grease - eggs cooked to perfection.

The public areas, bar and restaurant look very chic and inviting.

Beautiful outdoor bar terrace and outdoor swimming pool.

Great hotel at a great price! Highly recommended!

Family room Ok for 3 people but not sufficient storage for a family of 4. Cleaning needs to be improved and general practability of room. The TV in the kids bedroom was left at an angle and within minutes of being in the room my daughter had serverly knocked her head on it. The light switches in the kids bed room are not obvious as they are covered up by the pillows on the bed. During the night when a child moves in their sleep the movement causes the switches to be activated so the lights come on - not good.

Breakfast was good but the evening meal was very poor in terms of choice quality and service. One night it took over 2 hours and it was not busy. This is not acceptable when the guest has children and all one wants to do is get them into bed early!!

Rooms very clean, staff friendly. All sheets and towels changed every night.

Room Tip: Some rooms can be noisy and some have a view of the roof.

Was a little disappointed no fridge or air conditioning in room, but hotel did compensate by providing a fan and jug of iced water whenever asked, apart from that hotel great, and service excellent.
