“REALLY NICE STAY”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2013

We arrived for a four night stay and were very pleased with our choice of hotel. The hotel staff are very genuinely friendly. The bar staff are very efficient and service is quick. We were worried about the noise when we first got to our room as the fire and police headquarters are directly opposite the hotel, however heard only 1 siren for our whole stay. Jersey itself seemed very safe and we would definately return to both the hotel and island again.

We chose the Savoy based upon its location and the trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. Firstly the location is excellent. Don't panic when you realise the Islands police, fire and ambulance hq's are only a few metres away. We never heard one siren in 3 days! The main shopping streets are only a 10 minute walk away too. As a bonus, there are also a couple of high trip-advisor ranking restaurants within a few minutes walk too!
The hotel itself is really nice too. It is not a corporate hotel so yes, the lift is a bit shaky, the corridors a bit narrow (with a few suitcase scrapes showing) and the rooms are on the small side of average but none of that really matters. The place is immaculately clean. Towels are changed daily. The food is excellent - we had a great breakfast every day and enjoyed a very reasonably priced tasty meal in the restaurant one evening.
One thing that let it down for me was the fact that the skill levels of the staff was one extreme or another. Suzanne appeared to be the most senior and she was excellent. Always attentive, on the ball and very friendly. Unfortunately there were other staff there who did not have a clue what was going on! Rather than speak to customers, they simply ignored you! I appreciate they were training but none the less, they should show more of an interest in what was going on! Also, there was a wedding on Saturday and as we were above the function room we heard everything from our room! In the end we went out so it didn't bother us too much!
Having said that, it's a great hotel and I would not hesitate to return there.

Room Tip: Room 26 has a big bathroom and overlooks the pool.

We arrived on Tuesday and from check in to check out everything was fantastic.
We parked up and was greeted by a spotlessly clean and beautiful reception with fresh flowers. The lady on check in was just covering the desk and although she was slightly unsure of the procedure she was very helpful. she showed us the lounge, restaurant and bar area, which again were all very welcoming and clean. After about half an hour the receptionist came to advise us our room was ready. Room 99, We got our luggage, we did decline the offer of a porter. grab our bags and went to our room, once again, we were very impressed, large room, spotlessly clean, loads of storage space with a lovely bathroom. we unpacked had a good look round the hotel and got our bearings. We decided to eat at the hotel that night, which like everything else leading up to this point was excellent, We had a good comfy nights sleep in a huge bed. Next morning we went down for breakfast, there was a great selection of continental, free flowing tea, coffee and juices, then we reviewed the breakfast menu, a fully cooked breakfast or kipper. You could have either. I am awkward and asked for my breakfast to be prepared with some stuff missing, some cooked well and some extras, just as I ordered and nothing to much trouble. Breakfast just added to our opinion of what we thought and now realised was a fantastic hotel. The week went from strength to strength and the hotel made our holiday all that more special. We got what we believed was a fantastic bed and breakfast deal, which made this hotel fantastic value for money also. there are a couple of small things that would had been useful. The internet strength in this room is a bit poor and if you are trying to download something it might take a while. Also in the bathroom, a shelf over the sink, would have been an advantage, I have special contact lens solutions and there was little space on the back of the sink. The final other little thing would be a small over the mirror light in the bathroom, the main light is very strong and the fan loud and you cant turn the light on with out the fan kicking in, if you get up to use the bathroom in the night, we didn't like to turn on the light for the fear of waking our sleeping other half, a small shaving/mirror light, would have certainly helped. But none of these spoiled any of our stay. I would like to finally finish by saying that the assistant manager. Paulo, is a real credit to the hotel as are his team.

we enjoyed our stay so very much we have already planned a long weekend for Easter next year. Thank you Savoy

Room Tip: Room 99, nice at the end of the hotel, just wifi a little weak

Arrived at 8pm on a monday eve early august.....spotless hotel, nice lobby.....receptionist upgraded us to a suite and escorted us to the room......suite was large and had separate living area and big bathroom....all was very clean and tidy if a little dated however for the price we paid we were very happy with this........ we stayed here 3 days and every thing was nearly perfect.......bed comfy.....pool nice....small gym.....i use the word "nearly" as breakfast was somewhat strange?......every day at breakfast we got a different dish as to what we ordered?..i ordered poached eggs and got scrambled.....my girlfriend ordered boiled eggs one day and got only one when the menu said two......it got a bit of a joke towards the end of our stay wondering what would arrive after our breakfast order......we didnt realy mind, we found it ammusing billy!...but some people wouldnt......oh and the scrambled egg tasted awful.
the breakfast room was very nice and the presentation of the food was decrative however we both thought the food didnt match the ambience hence 4 stars and not 5 for this hotel........however we would stay again due to the friendly staff and great bar food!

We stayed at this hotel whilst visiting family for a long weekend. Despite making the original booking in July, there had been a mix up and it hadn't registered. Whilst trying to sort it out, the Reception Staff were extremely helpful in every way. I ended up speaking to three members of Staff but luckily they had all shared the information between themselves so I didn't have to keep repeating myself. On our arrival at the Hotel they honoured the original priced booking and again were very helpful.
Our room was a family room which consisted of a double room and an extra twin room for our daughter. They were both a great size as was the bathroom and the extra dressing room. The room(s) were cleaned wonderfully every day and we had fresh towels each day as well.
The breakfasts were good and we had a decent choice from the menu to order and more than enough in both choice and quantity from the buffet section. We didn't eat from the restaurant in the evening so cannot comment on this. We did however ask for an ice bucket and some extra biscuits for our room and the staff once again were very accomodating.
The House Porter was very pleasant on our return in the evening to the Hotel, but then this was in keeping with the rest of the Staff that we encountered.
The only downside really for us was the location of our room. It overlooked some private houses and their front drives and a side street which meant that we had to have the curtains closed for most of the time for privacy.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others as the location is good as well, being within walking distance of the town.
Thank you to Maria and Lucia the main reception Staff and the pleasant Gentleman whose names escapes me. They were all very helpful and pleasant throuout our stay.

Stayed at this hotel during a 3 day stay, the room was clean and the hotel staff helpful. I had a big double bed that was ever so comfortable and the setting is perfect, away from the noise but within walking distance of the lovely town. You'll definitely not be disappointed staying here. Please be aware that the outdoor pool is cold in October ha! They opened it for us though so fair play to the hotel staff!!

We stayed here for a week in summer 2013 and overall were very disappointed. The rooms feel tired and dainty, the hotel corridors need refurbishing and the breakfast room lacks any atmosphere. There is a lounge with some chairs and sofas, but again we did not find it very inviting and lacking atmosphere and style. The breakfast was ok, although very basic. Overall, certainly not a 4 star hotel and we were so disappointed that we left two days early.
