Stayed for 2 nights, in order to visit the Durrell conservation centre and was less than impressed. The room was comfortable, although quite small and the location not bad for exploring the island. The reception I received, however was peculiarly formal (frankly like a job interview) and I found the manager very unfriendly, which left me with the distinct impression that they have a problem with single travellers (not something I've experienced elsewhere, despite having stayed in hotels all over the world). Also, the clock/radio in my room did not work and there was an absence of information for tourists.
Breakfast was ok, but there was no alternative to having it delivered to my room, which turned out to be expensive.
To be fair, my stay was a reasonably comfortable and peaceful one. I felt unwelcome, though and will not be returning.More
