“Very poor service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2013 via mobile

Firstly note to Trip Advisor team - this restaurant is in Jersey, Channel Islands not France.

We arrived on holiday on 13th July and were looking for somewhere to eat close to where we were staying. We booked a table at Le Hocq for 8pm. We arrived sharply at 7.55pm and were escorted to our table. We were not given menus and after 10 minutes I asked for them I also asked if we could order some drinks. The menus were hastily delivered but the waitress did not even hang around a moment for us to order drinks but rushed off again. I finally collared her to request some drinks and to take our order. Still the drinks did not come so I grabbed someone again who checked with the bar man. Yes he had our drinks order but hadn't got round to making them since he was alone on the bar serving drinks to walk ups as well as supporting the restaurant. Finally got a drink at nearly 8.30!!!!!!

Needless to say our food was equally slow and required lots of prompting. The food when it evenually arrived.....main course at nearly 9.30pm was pretty good but the wait was way too long especially when we had children with us.

Dissappointed as I had higher expectations.

“Not in France but in Jersey”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2013

I had been searching for this inn to write a review and have discovered it listed in France, but its actually in Jersey!
We ended up visiting twice during our weeks stay on the island because the food was so good. I had espetados on both occasions and if you've never tried them they are meat cooked on a long skewer and hung at your table - delicious. My husband had fish and on our 2nd visit steak which he said was one of the best he'd ever tasted.
Service was very good and staff pleasant, the price was also very reasonable.

“A great Jersey pub with excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2013

We sat outside on a lovely shady terrace and had excellent food and service. There's a varied menu, lots of fish and seafood as you'd expect, a good vegetarian selection and meat options too.

The staff couldn't have been more helpful - they moved furniture for us in order to get a larger table into the shade, they were attentive but not overly so, and really friendly. Service was prompt and good value. It's hard to ask anything more of a pub really.

There's a large, free, car park opposite, (unusual for Jersey), and the beach is across the road.
