“Excellent hotel!”
Reviewed 3 April 2012

I cannot rate this hotel highly enough! Attentive staff, great little bar and sublime food. Stayed here for a weekend break on a Groupon deal and didn't really know what to expect as it was our first time to Jersey. What a welcome we recieved, bags taken to our rooms from the hotel entrance and the staff literally could not do enough. Not only that but we also recieved a free upgrade to a deluxe sea-view room. Will definitely be going back here (even if we have to pay the full price)!!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea-view room

On our arrival we had the feeling of a genuine welcome. This courtesy we continued to enjoy throughout our stay. Our room on the second floor was both clean comfortable and spacious with complimentary fruit and water and a good view over the castle and bay. Dining in the main restaurant on the first evening the food was a little disappointing perhaps our choice from the menu? although the staff were very attentive. The following nights food was good and it continued to be so.We also dined in the speciality restaurant and what a lovely experience that was. The spa and pool area which we used are very good and an excellent way to relax after a days traveling. Overall a very nice trip made memorable by the thoughtful and pleasant staff.

Room Tip: Front facing rooms on our floor (2nd) have a good view although traffic noise may upset some on the...

I have recently travelled to Jersey and stayed at the Grand. I normally use a different hotel in St Helier. I was actually there on an offer from KGB deals. Promised champagne on arrival, and i am home now and still not had the glass (or should i say 2 glasses as deal was for 2 people). I was in a land facing room which the window opened but not enough to get any view.

Breakfast was average. I asked for a glass of milk and had to ask again as it did not arrive. Not the best choices of food comparing to other hotels. Did not bother on my second morning and had some milk I bought from outside.

Dinner in Victorias was actually very good, excellent service.

Spa was great and really lovely place and good treatments.

Location is good.

So you can see, we have a mixed bag here.

Room Tip: Obviously sea view will be better

Room lighting awful, tv system slow and behind the times, room service too slow (1 hour for beans on toast!), breakfast seemed liked it was left from the day before, coffee undrinkable, beds too soft. Overpriced and not a 5* hotel. Only positive is its location for walk into town for meetings

Me and my partner have been to jersey many times and have stayed in the grand before about 8 years ago, (when it was under previous management). We had purchased a groupon deal this time for the grand it was cheap and cheerful and as the grand was under new management we didnt expect much we intended to use the hotel as simply somewhere to sleep whilst we visited friends. This all changed upon arriving for our stay, the staff were so friendly, the room was amazing with a breathtaking sea view and all the little luxuries you expect from a 4* hotel.
The breakfast was amazing much better than i remember, you have to try the kippers.
The Spa was also very well equipped and the staff we very helpful.
We were only there for 2 nights but it made a massive impact, i will be returning so time very soon.

Room Tip: the cocktail bar is a must but it is pricey

We had a lovely break, finding the staff very welcoming and friendly. Book ahead if you want a spa treatment - but once there it is a very relaxing and luxurious experience.
Room was good, although a little dark and warm- solved by switching the heating off altogether. Also in our case the small window wouldnt shut properly.
Can recommend eating dinner at Victorias restaurant - lovely food and service good. Would like to return..

We stayed for a week in February A nice enough hotel but old fashioned, tired decor. The dust collecting bed covers were unattractive & there was a lot of creaking when people in the room above were walking about. We had a sea view luxury room (Our third choice as we were unimpressed by the first & second offerings). We cannot thank the hotel staff enough for their helpfulness - Always genuinely friendly and polite. The restaurants are vastly overpriced for the food offerings - We recommend eating out.The Candlelight Restaurant just around the corner = Turn left from the front door of the hotel and turn left out of the side entrance and walk about 50 metres and it is on your right (in the Revere Hotel - The romantic ambience, food that is 'Out of this world' especially their meat dishes). We also suggest you think twice before going to The Casa Mia Italian restaurant in the same road - Closest to the hotel on the same side -Nice looking place and friendly proprietor but we suffered dreadful food poisoning and other people we know who went to Jersey six months before us also said they had suffered food poisoning after eating there (I only wish they had let us know before we ate there as we would not have gone - I think it was the mussels). The other Italian restaurant on the opposite side of the road by the Revere Hotel is good. The Grand Jersey Spa is very nice although we could not book what we actually wanted as they were short-staffed and could not fit us in. Try the experience showers - They are wonderful. To summarise this genteel Hotel is in a great location close to the main town of St Helier, the beach and a ten minute walk to the bus depot. We rate it as a 3/4 star as it does not have the luxuries most modern 5* hotels offer today.

Room Tip: All rooms small & if booking the sea view rooms make sure you have a balcony (these are also ver...
