“Great location and great 3 star hotel”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

we just got back from the Apollo on 10th June and definately can't wait to go back. The hotel is very close to town but is also very peaceful, our room was clean and comfortable and was cleaned daily. Breakfast at the apollo was first class and had something for all tastes. The staff at the hotel are all very freindly and very helpful. cannot fault this hotel which i feel is great value for a 3 star it ticked all the boxes.

Room Tip: we stayed in a room at the rear of the hotel which looked onto pool area and was very quiet as you...

The Apollo is a good three-star hotel in a central position in St Helier. Left out the front door and immediately right takes you to the centre of town with its daytime bustle followed by an eerie quietness at night.
The hotel is comfortable and the breakfast is first class and plentiful.
The staff are helpful and friendly.
The lobby is sort of dark and the bar, on a slightly higher level, is comfortable but underused.
It is surprising to find that anyone with access problems has to climb stairs at various points before reaching the lift.
Our bedroom was good and well maintained.
BUT, where could the heat be coming from during the night? It was sweaty-warm right throughout the night and the radiator was not on. I eventually discovered that the back of the hotel has two structures that look like kitchen and central heating/hot water chimneys. They or their source seem to be the problem, so you may be better off in a room to the front of the hotel. Leaving your window wide open does not solve the heat problem and in fact leaves you exposed to delivery noises early in the morning.
BEWARE OF THE HOT WATER. When you see the bathroom sign warning of extremely hot water, BELIEVE IT. It is scalding hot. The shower is over the bath and can vary from extreme hot to cold.
You may also need to bring eye covers for the early morning light entering your room. Blackout- blinds would be a blessing.
The Apollo has two pools, indoor and outdoor.
There is no room safe and this is not what a tourist wants.
This is a fine hotel in many ways, but could do with some investment.
Our opinion of the Apollo suffered by comparison with the Mayfair Hotel that accommodated half of our tour group. Much brighter, more lively and with a full evening restaurant.
Still, for handiness and price you will find the Apollo okay. It is only at breakfast that you realise how many people stay in the Apollo! Very big numbers.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is going to be cool at night.

Whilst the bedrooms are tired they and the rest of the hotel are spotlessly clean. The staff are very friendly especially roxy at the front desk and Paul the manager of the restaurant . Nothing was too much trouble and they really are concerned that you are happy and enjoying your stay. If i do return to jersey I will stay there again . Special mention as we'll to Connie and Catarina the waitresses in the restaurant lovely people . Breakfast is excellent . We on.yate dinner once during our stay but it was tasty and the service was excellent .

Room Tip: Garden room if you can its quieter and you have a lovely view of the pool and garden

Hotel looks a bit shabby, but the staff were excellant. Everyone without exception went out of their way to be helpful, they were always kind, courtous and friendly.
The hotel is also very convenient for St Helier as it is only about a five minute walk to the town.
We will certainly use it again.

Room Tip: Only downside is if you get put in a room on the front. This is on the main road so the traffice no...

Shower faced the wrong way to use. Room was hot even with Windows's open. Bed hard and 'buttons' feeling in my back. Would not stay again.
Went to bar to talk business and man tried to look at laptop to see what we discussed.
Breakfast good supply however felt too much staff at 7.30 so felt being watched.

We stayed at the Apollo over the last bank holiday weekend in a party of 6. The hotel is well situated with easy access to the main town area where there are plenty of bars and shops, the beach/sea front and a well run bus station. Only used the restaurant for breakfast but the buffet style choices were excellent and the evening meal prices seemed reasonable - I would certainly recommend the breakfast. There is a cocktail bar but it's expensive and only opens in the evening - we tended to use the bar next to the hotel. The hotel has a small outdoor pool, an indoor one and a spa. The hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant and the hotel was clean. The rooms were adequate with plenty of room. My only criticism would be the shower - difficult to get the temperature right! We found the bus service to be very good, using it to see a fair part of the island - £3.60 being the standard fare and £1.30 for shorter trips. With the narrow windy roads a bus trip can be quite an experience! We discovered, too late in the day for us, that you can get £7 daily tickets. There is plenty to do and see and lots of very picturesque bays. We had an excellent time and thoroughly enjoyed are stay - I would certainly return.

hotel clean and staff very friendly. a bit shabby in places and could do with a refurb!!! would benefit from air conditioning in the bedrooms!!! breakfast excellent with a lot of choice. the hotel is in a great location. not far from town centre and bus station. getting around jersey by bus is the best way to see the island and very cheap. a little pub in the town called the dog and sausage is well worth a visit!

Room Tip: try and get a room facing pool area for a quieter nights sleep as the pub next door can get noisy...
