Apollo Hotel

OK,
I read reviews for this hotel. very few adverse comments, something about a lady not getting a cup of tea on demand?? and the bathrooms being tired.
For those who complained I think a lesson in what you get for2, 3, 4 and 5 star wouldn't go amiss.
The hotel is well located, being just at the northern edge of St Helier main area. 10 Mins walk from most attractions in St Helier and for us the bus station was important. £22 each for a 5 day pass all over the island all day any day.
The staff were always smiling and helpful, worthy of special mention is the restaurant manager, make him your friend, which isn't hard., he loves his job!
The whole hotel is clean and tidy and very quiet at night.
Yes the bathroom was furnished with the sort of mixer tap and snake shower fitting you get in most houses, and getting a good temperature was a black art ( DO NOT LET THE WIFE FLUSH THE TOILET WHILE YOU ARE IN THE SHOWER!!) but I only spent 5 minutes in a shower max so what was the problem??
SKy or even Freeeview TV would be a welcome addition for falling asleep to but HEH HO.

In all thank you Apollo

Stayed at the Apollo for a week with my husband and two elderly dads. The service and cleanliness was excellent. My dad liked a coffee each night before bed and this was always obtained for him. The sandwiches from the coffee shop were freshly made to order. The seating in the well kept garden was great on a sunny afternoon.
The only down side was the small size of the single rooms. No drawer availability for shirts, underwear etc. The staff were pleasant and helpfull.
I would use this hotel again.

Hi I booked this hotel for 5 nights. I found the staff very un-helpful. I seen an elderly lady ask for a coffee at the reception and they said that they had none, they all seem very depressed, they didn't seem to talk to each other, the rooms are very dated the be careful if you book a double room you will get a room with 2 single beds. The noise above our room was un-real I spoke to the staff about it but nothing was done.

I paid a lot of money for my stay at the Apollo what a waste.
The only good thing good about this hotel is the location.
The Mayfair hotel is just beside it a much better hotel with up bet staff
and a bit of life about it.

We thought this hotel was really great and nicely priced. Food was excellent in the morning and we tried the evening meal once (though it was very nice we wanted to try the many places outside the hotel) and the table service we thought went above and beyond. The only real draw back we had with this hotel was the fact that the room sound proofing was dreadful. Either that or the people above were on the large side (actually, there were a lot of people on the large side staying there at that time) as we heard all the thuds when they walked across the floor or perhaps they had the TV exceptionally loud late at night or in the early morning, whatever, I don't expect to stay in any hotel and here the conversation of the people in the next room above, below or next door. A week at this hotel, despite everything, pluses/minuses, was enough... certainly no regrets anway.

Apologies for the extremely late posting of this review, been meaning to do this for a very long time but never got round to it until now.

I booked a girlie weekend for a party of 10 women ( aged 35 - 65yrs ! )
We all really enjoyed our stay. The staff were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
The facilities incl - Lovely swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, pub, restaurant, poolside bar etc.
The location was fantastic - 5 minute walk to the shops, 10 minute to Liberation Square
The bar prices were cheap and cheerful - particulary the pub grub.
The rooms were clean & tiday ( the bathrooms were a little dated - but ok )
We recieved endless supplies of tea/coffee for our rooms

The outside seating area was great for sunbathing - and has outside waterchute.
We all said we would go back
For a cheap break - i would recommend it.

We enjoyed our stay at the apollo, the staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel clean. The room was a little tired and as someone has mentioned the shower leaves a lot to be desired, but overall for the price we paid we were pleased. The breakfasts were ok with a choice of cereals, fruit (probably tinned), and the usual bacon, egg, sausage etc. The choice wasnt the best we have had but it was nothing to complain about and we were ok with it. The problem we had with the hotel was the restaurant, we felt this let the hotel down. The menu was very boring and against our better judgement we tried it one night, I should have realised my mistake when I asked what the "seasonal Veg" was, the answer was red cabbage and sprouts!
I would recommend this hotel as I think we had good value for money but i would suggest you eat at the Indian over the road or in one of the many restaurants in St Helier, we found the Bella Italia to be excellent .

Like several of the other reviews posted here i had read the good and the bad reviews before we went, but to be honest as most of the reviews said it was a good hotel i shouldnt have worried.
We were there for our 10th wedding anniversary, and it was great, some of the reviews give the hotel a bad image, but we found it ok. We had a superior room (the beds massive) flat screen tv with plenty of wardrobe and draw space, the bathroom (was a bit tired) was clean with a shower over the bath, the room staff were in every day making sure every thing was clean and organised. The hotel itself was nothing to look at from outside but was well presented in all the public areas, all the staff were friendly and helpful, and finally the restaurant.
The restaurant manager Paul, was really nice and helpfull and always had a smile, the food was fabulous. Breakfast could be Cereal, fruit, toast and a cup of tea or several trips to the buffett stocking up on eggs, sausages, bacon, mushrooms, beans and black pudding!! or all of the above and more. In fact we were going to go out for a meal on friday but because the food had been that good for the 4 nights before we ate in the hotel, and were not let down.
The hotel is just a couple of minutes walk from the main shopping streets of St. Helier, but we found the hotel to be quiet.
Would i recomend this hotel? definetly, dont let the few bad reviews put you off, go and enjoy it for yourself
