The Stafford Hotel in St. Helier, Jersey is a totally unexceptional hotel but not a bad one. It has one great advantage - it is well located. It is easy to reach from the airport bus and it's only a very short walk to the center of St. Helier and its restaurants and pubs. The hotel looks a bit dated on the inside but it's basically clean. The single room is quite small and had no view but was perfectly okay for me. A breakfast is included and though I'm not very big on the traditional English breakfast (the eggs were mushy as were the mushrooms and tomatoes, the bacon fatty, the sausages very bland), there was a good selection of cereal, yoghurt, and fruit as well as a pot of tea which I could enjoy. The staff was courteous enough.

However there was one big drawback for me at the Stafford Hotel. The free internet didn't work at all. And no one fixed it. I had planned on sending several emails that evening and could not. It still didn't work the next day. Fortunately I found a café in Jersey with WIFI the next day but I was very disappointed not to have WIFI in my room as advertised. The staff seemed to attribute it to my laptop. My laptop is fine!

Thank you for your review and pleased to read your favourable comments about our location.
Our apologies that our free wifi was not working correctly during your stay and you found our tradiitional breakfast not to your liking.
I can assure you that our wifi is normally very reliable and I regret that on this occasion we were unable to offer this facility.

We have just returned from the Stafford Hotel after a 10 day stay. This hotel is real value for money. It may have small issues with the bedrooms / bathrooms but these were not a real problem. The furniture is old and the showers could do with renewing but it is kept very clean by the staff.
On arrival we had a bowl of fruit a small box of chocolates and a large bottle of water in our room all free of charge. The coffee, tea, etc. was renewed each day. We had clean towels daily as well.
The position of the hotel couldn't be better. 5 mins to the seafront and 5 mins in the opposite direction to the main shopping area.
The food is a definite 4 star. The breakfast had everything you could ask for and the evening meal is a 3 course with tea or coffee. The chef should be congratulated as the meals were wonderful.
The restaurant staff were so kind. Always had time to talk to you and the level of service was first class. All the staff in the hotel were lovely. We will definitely return to the Stafford and I would definitely say to anyone thinking of going. Remember it is a 2 star but the service is as good as a 4 star hotel.

Room Tip: We had room 104 on first floor. quiet room no view but that wasn't important.

Arrived late on a Monday night with a slight hold up at the ferry getting bags, put bags in room and went into dinner was given a telling off for being late till I put him in his place & said I have just arrived and there would be more people coming for dinner. The food is very good given a choice of starter, main meal and pudding or cheese and biscuits.the service is first class as soon as the plates are finished with they are cleared away.Breakfast is self-service lots to chose from fruit juice fresh fruit, yoghurt, full English egg,bacon,sausage,mushrooms,hash-brown,beans, half tomato have as much as you want and there is toast.I was in room 403 ground floor on the side of the hotel the room was very warm there is alleyway outside my window its gated but I did not want to fully open the window as I was on my own.Room and bed comfortable bathroom on the small size I am not twiggy so there is not much room between the shower and the wall as you get out but managed ok.The hotel is not far from the sea front and a short walk into the shops there is a petrol garage/shop close> I would use this hotel again if I was going to Jersey

Room Tip: Rooms(403) on the ground floor on the side of the building where the alleyway I would not recommend...

Just back from 4 nights at the Stafford Hotel which was excellent value for money.
The hotel is in a street which turning left out the hotel leads in 5 mins. to the promenade, beach, causeway to Elizabeth Castle and bus stop, whilst turning right out of the hotel takes you to the main shopping centre, bars and restaurants. The main bus station which is very efficient can be reached from either direction but we went via the promenade route - a very pleasant 10 mins walk. Buses cost £1.80 for each journey no matter where and how far you are going, although we bought a 3 day pass. Hotel is basic but very clean, rooms were more than adequate with comfy beds,shower/ bath with toiletries, TV and tea/coffee making facilities. We had no problem sleeping, rooms were at the back of the hotel - floorboards above a bit creaky but no real problem. Lets face it how long are you in your room - only to sleep in !!

Breakfast buffet style was unbelievable for a 2 star more like a 5 star hotel with fruit juices, continental style breakfast and full english breakfast consisting of fried eggs(superbly cooked), scrambled eggs, real english bacon, tomatoes, hash browns, mushrooms, beans, sausages, toast. Also an assortment of pastries.Tea and coffee was served by the waiters. I have to say that all of the staff were very pleasant, super efficient and a joy to talk to, they really did make our stay so enjoyable.Well done to all the staff.
Hotel has a nice little bar and even had entertainment one night with a guitar singer.
I would highly recommend Jersey and the Stafford Hotel, book it and you will enjoy - but remember it is a 2 star hotel.
Airport bus no 15 drops you at the end of the street next to the Jersey Grand Hotel, could not be easier.

Room Tip: rooms at the back as we had were fine no street noise detected.

The Stafford is rated 2 stars. Should be rated 3 stars.
The room (double for single use) was bright, large and even had a sea view. Large bathroom ( ensuite, tidy. Only a few steps from the shore and only a short walk to Liberty Station and the city centre. Cash maschine and the hospital round the corner.

The staff was ever so polite and helpful in every way. Nice Lobby, bar and a spacious breakfast room with a great variety breakfast buffet. At night is is nice and quiet, no noise from the street after, say 9 pm.

I did enjoy my stay thoroughly and recommend this hotel in every way.

Room Tip: 3rd floor has a bit of view

we got a really good price on internet booking site, hotel is large on 3 floors and traditional inside, all staff very friendly, breakfast is great, self service, everything you could want, hotel about 5 mins walk from sea and 10 mins from shops, pubs nearby and hotel has bar which closes at 10.30. rooms spacious and very clean, not a hotel for you if a white bath is a deal breaker for you. wifi good in reception but fades on upper floors. hotel will look after your bags if you are checking out late. bus stop at end of road, bus station 10 mins walk, number 15 to airport about 30 mins, all bus fares have a max of £1.80. lovely hotel, lovely place. thanks for reading.

Room Tip: rooms on front have a sea view if you lean out, but can be some noise early, binmen etc.
