We booked the hotel after reading several very positive reviews. Following our stay, we feel there were an equal number of positive points and criticisms, which results in the 'average' rating from us. Our thoughts are summarised below:

PROS:
* The welcome we initially received upon arrival at the hotel was warm, and whenever we had a question, the staff were very helpful.
* The hotel gardens are beautiful, and we were particularly impressed with the outdoor hot tub - we were the only people to brave it during the particularly dismal weather that unfortunately plagued our visit!
* Breakfast was promptly served, and was of good quality.

CONS:
* Although the location of the hotel is peaceful and picturesque, and we enjoyed the stroll to get there, the fact remains that it is a good 30 minute walk up a steep hill from the centre of St. Helier. The hotel do offer a limited complimentary shuttle bus service into town, however.
* Whilst we were aware that hotel rooms are not cheap in Jersey, for £66 a night we were still a little underwhelmed by the slightly dated and basic nature of the room. It was very clean though, so no complaints in that respect.
* This is perhaps a trivial issue, but when we went down for breakfast on the morning of our departure, and gave our room number to the older gentleman who greeted us, there was an awkward moment where he questioned whether there were two people booked into that room or not. Ultimately, this didn't cause a problem, but being two men who were booked into a double room together, this made us feel uncomfortable that this had been highlighted and questioned.

Room Tip: We paid an extra £5 for a garden view room, and this was worth doing.

I stayed at the Westhill in April for a bridge convention and was overwhelmed by the hospitality and friendliness of this lovely, family-run hotel. The staff could not do enough for us from the moment that we arrived (early, at 08:30 in the morning) until we left, even allowing us private use of their computer facilities. The rooms were clean and of a good size and the all-inclusive breakfast and dinner was excellent. I rate this hotel top marks in its class and will definitely come back next year if possible.

Just returned from a fortnight's holiday at this excellent hotel. The third star was actually awarded by the AA when we were there. The hotel really is quite outstanding. It's immaculately maintained throughout. It's set in it's own extensive grounds with beautifully maintained gardens. The location is very peaceful, and yet you're only a 5 minute drive away from St Helier. The atmosphere is very friendly, and the staff really are absolutely excellent. You really get the personal touch, which we find so lacking in most hotels these days. The rooms are a good size and are spotlessly clean. The food is excellent, with a varied choice catering for all tastes. There's also ample car parking. We had a great time (we've already booked to go back). Top marks all round.

Fabulous hotel. Gorgeous gardens, swimming pool and hot tub. Entertainment 4 days out of 5. Generally older clientele, but some families. Stayed half board, but with a couple of nights eating out. Breakfast quick and enough choice. Evening meal 3-4 choices. Staff excellent, friendly and attentive. Cleaner in early. Rooms ok, clean with ensuite. Location close to st helier and all main sites. Taxi or bus into centre, we hire car. Would stay again.
