A very basic hotel the bedroom walls were very thin pos plasterboard) we could hear talking, coughs, sneezes etc - no privacy.
The shower room was very cramped with the tiny shower head our watering can sprayed faster!
Toilet space very cramped bumped shoulder on the walls either side
The Bed covers were very old and bobbly as were the blanket. There was no bedside table but a little shelf which hardly held anything. Very small tv which was nearer the ceiling than eye level with only 4 channels.
There was no internet access in the hotel.
No daily newspapers available to purchase or read
The lounge was very small for the amount of guests and not enough seating
The food got better after a few complaints.
The staff were doing their best all things considered
The hot water in the shower room was nice and hot, the small kettle boiled quickly and the staff were all very pleasant so our comments are no reflection on them

Respectfully, we are not a 'basic hotel' as stated in the sense that we are in a prime sea front location on a large site, with a sea facing indoor pool complex, sea facing restaurant and good public areas. The hotel is traditional and this is appreciated by many repeat clients. We are pleased that our cleanliness is rated as being excellent by this client.

Bedrooms do vary considerably in size and location and larger bedrooms may be requested if this is of concern. Bedrooms with a balcony or with sea/beach view may be requested also. We do seek to provide value for money and this fact is appreciated by many clients. Management are on hand to assist if you have any areas of concern.

Had a very nice weeks holiday. The hotel staff are helpful, the hotel is clean, the floor boards squeak a bit! Breakfast was fine. Bus stop right out side front door or a 10 min walk into town. We hired bikes for the week and there was a safe yard to lock them in. Great little restaurant called Drifters a few doors down from hotel and a fab Thai Shack around bay!

Stayed here first weekend in October. Seaview room looked out onto the beach. Room was spacious, warm and clean.
Breakfast was very nice, didn't have evening meals. Staff attentive and friendly. You can help yourself to free coffee in the bar area, nice touch.
We dined at Moitas Bistro over the road and Roseville Bistro both fantastic food.
Only downer was that it rained all the time we were in Jersey.

Spent a week here with partner and two friends. The hotel itself is great, the staff surpassing any we have encountered elsewhere and the food quality and choice excellent. The walk to St Helier only took about 20 minutes and we are in our 60's. The downside of the hotel for us was that in the vicinity of our room we had a pump or large electric motor start up and run noisily about every 20 minutes or so day & night preventing us having a good night's sleep.

Room with balcony sea view was excellent. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Swimming pool was clean and functionable. Restaurant/food could not be faulted. Bar/lounge area was reasonable. Hotel in good position for getting to the centre of St Helier and catching buses to all attractions. Would highly recommend the Hotel and are aiming to go again soon!

My wife and I spent a week at the Fort D’Auvergne in September 2010.
The hotel is comfortable but one feels that the decor could do with some uprating and looks a little tired. None more so than the bedroom to which we were allocated. Clean and tidy but one can be critical of the very small TV, small bathroom (cramped shower) and creaky floorboards overhead which proved to be an irritation during hours of sleep. During our stay of 7 nights there was entertainment on 3 of them. Unfortunately the entertainments area has limited seating arrangements and this meant that on one evening we had to look elsewhere in another nearby hotel. Also it was not possible to relax and watch a decent TV at the same time as the entertainment was taking place. On the point about alternative entertainment, if one wants more things to do on an evening it is unfortunate that the local bus service (excellent during the day) does not run beyond early evening and one can soon run up taxi expenses or have to undertake a good walk into St.Helier.
All the foregoing is on the negative side. On a positive note the staff and food made up for any shortcomings. There was a good range of choices for both breakfast and evening dinner. We had just got used to using the toaster when it was time to leave!! The dining room staff, despite being very busy during mealtimes, were always polite and efficient. In addition we were very grateful to the manager (Phil) who helped us with a problem with an airport transfer.
During our stay we heard rumours about the future of the hotel linked to possible marina developments for the Havre des Pas. It is hoped that the prime position of the hotel means that it has an excellent future and this would allow for much needed investment. All in all we had a decent week’s holiday.

just arrived back from a weeks stay as a surprise 80th birthday presentwas a littleconcerned at 2 star ratingthis is sadlly under rated we have been in 3 star that did not match this hotel the manageris the most pleasant and attentative to make you feel you are important(which of course we are) the staff are in my opinion 5 star trained a credit to the manager will certainly advise a visit
