“Am I in Poland??”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2008

I stayed for two days and found a £90 room rate a good deal.

Positives...
1. Basically the hotel is very modern, and the rooms a big, clean and with mine had a great king size bed which was very comfortable with ample posh pillows. No issue with the rooms.

2. It is 5 mins walking distance from town, and you have the new movie complex and swimming pool nexct to thye hotel

Negitives....

1. Bar Service...with all of 4 people in the bar mid week, it still talkes an age to get served.

2. Absolutley every member of staff is polish., and has a 60% understanding of english. Yes...every staff member

Verdict...I would only stay again if I was not paying and had to take the best deal . For the same, or slightly cheaper I would recommened the Hotel de France, where the service is far better.

Thank you for your comments.
The staff at the hotel come from all over Europe. Jersey, Guernsey,England,Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands, France, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Poland, &Germany. The hotel is most definately not staffed just by Polish employees!

Having read all the fuss about the design of the hotel, we were very pleasantly surprised. Fantastic location, light and airy hotel, relaxing atmosphere, great staff. We'd definitely stay again - it's about time Jersey had a modern, international hotel.

Stayed at the Radisson for the 2nd time, i loved my first stay there so i decieded to go back. Was very strange when i arrived because the staff were all new from our first stay. I asked one who i reconised before and told me that the hotel are sacking a lot of the staff due to the hotel struggling for Buisness.

This is refecting on the staff morale expecially in the restaurnt, where at which point i thought i was in polish, i did think it was rude that the staff spoke polish in front of the customers.

I would never stay at this hotel again. If you are looking for class try the Grand, i promise you the hotel and spa is 100 times better as the hotel as just being upgraded. Also the Royal Yacht is lovely but has a night club under the hotel which is ok for young people.

Jersey it self is gorgous, expecially when the sunshines. My advice is stay at a different hotel.

A great hotel in a great location. Rooms were spotless, staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast could be improved on, the buffet was not that great. However dinner there was wonderful.

The only grumble I would have was the bed, we had 2 single beds pushed together and 2 separate duvet covers. This we found a little strange. But everything else was perfect.

The hotel is new and built on reclaimed land so is a bit further away from the main stuff going on than other hotels. The rooms are of a good standard if lacking on cupboard space. Bathrooms were very nice and as everything is very new it was all spotlessly clean. The hotel interior is a bit souless with the bar being more a place to have a quick drink before bed or heading somewhere else rather than to spend an evening in. Having an afternoon or early evening drink on the terrace was very pleasant though.

Breakfast was an experience, too few staff, too little grasp of English and a hideous display of mostly English people piling up napkins with pastries, breads, cold sausages etc. undoubtedly so they can snack on them and save money later in the day. As it is a not a cheap hotel compared to others on offer you would have thought that if you could afford to stay there you could afford to eat lunch. The Buffet breakfast therefore also often ran out of items. Best option was to order the kippers / eggs from the waiter at the table. However, having stayed there for 5 days exactly what we ordered only turned up on 2 ocassions. Mainly due to grasp of English of waiting staff we always seemed to get an extra kipper or fried instead of poached eggs. As we were on holiday and not on business/ in a rush, we actually started to see the funny side but I could imagine it becoming a bit tiring if you only had 30 mins to eat!

There are a number of restaurants and a cinema in the complex next door and some excellent restaurants in town. For value I would recommed the fish and chips @thebar.

Don't bother getting a car the bus service is excellent and again was an experience we went to the fete at Gorey and St Brelades bay which is beautiful. I took a picture on my phone and saved it as wallpaper and everyone who sees it keeps asking me if it is the South Of France!

We stayed here for two nights at the end of October 2008. I was a little concerned because of some of the negative reviews about this hotel but should not have worried. From the moment we arrived nothing could have been too much trouble for the wonderful staff on reception and in the dining room. Our room was very comfortable and clean and the service and food in the dining room were excellent. The location was good but there is some building work next door but this was not a problem. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others and we will book this hotel again when we next visit Jersey.

Booked the Radisson thru an inclusive ferry break for a 4 night stay. The Hotel is in a convienient position right next to the ferry port and five minutes from St Helier town, but it is still isolated between two building sites and a large car park (and very unpopular with the locals thru it's Design and position (see other reviews). If you book standard rooms you will get excellent views of carp park and building sites, which is really disappointing if you made the effort to read other reviews and make a specific request for sea views ( a shrug from the receptionist did little to address my wife's annoyance).

The hotel and standard and facilities are good, but the performance of the total package is spoiled by the variable service and staff performance. Overall the Reception staff were very poor (i.e. two attempts to activate door keys and indifferent approach).

There is a wide spread of food in the Breakfast Buffet, but again dissappoints with the "hot" food being luke warm at best. Didn't try the Dinner, as we had better offers from the Tennerfest promotion in Jersey at the time.

The Swimming pool and spa is clean and pleasant with Steam Room and Sauna attached.

Overall, stayed in better 2 and 3 star establishments....
