We live on the island. The hotel sometimes emails late availability offers to its local repeat customers and offers a special rate. I received one of these emails one Friday just before Christmas to say there was a room available that night. I rang my wife straight away to check that we had nothing else planned, and she was so excited to hear that we'd be having a special treat.

The experience at Chateau la Chaire is excellent from the start. They are very friendly and efficient when taking bookings over the phone, and the welcome on arrival is always great from the chatty Polish receptionist.

This time we'd booked a superior room so we could benefit from the hot tub in the large bathroom. That was very welcome after a hard week in the office and we enjoyed our soak so much we were late down to dinner, but that wasn't a problem and we enjoyed the nibbles and a drink in the lounge before being shown to our table.

Each course from the table d'hôte menu was excellent and the staff coped well with my wife's food allergy.

After dinner we chose a couple of DVDs from the several hundred titles kept in a cabinet in the lounge and took them up to our room to play on the large flat screen TV. But the beds at Chateau la Chaire are so comfortable that we drifted off to sleep mid-movie.

Breakfast is a relaxed affair in the conservatory and the food is very good. Tip: they make great hot chocolate if you ask for it.

We'll no doubt be back again when the next late booking offer comes up.

Room Tip: The extra cost of the superior rooms is worth it for the extra space and the spa bath.

We stayed here to celebrate my 50th Birthday . My partner and I have stayed here about five times previously and chose the hotel as we wanted something special for my birthday. This time five other friends came too. This hotel is so special, the rooms are amazing, the food divine and the service excellent. We had the amazing suite this time, so that as a group we could celebrate on our own.
Thank you Chateau La Chaire for a wonderful weekend! We will come to visit you again as we love this hotel !!

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent, look at the hotel website as this shows all rooms.

My partner have stayed at Chateau La Chaire 3-4 times a year for the past 3 years using the local residents overnight package. We cannot fault the hotels and its staff as we always have a wonderful time. I am on this occasion a little perplexed as to why the tea and coffee making facilities have been removed from the rooms ? When we checked in this time we were asked if we would like tea or coffee brought to our room before breakfast, at a supplementary price which we declined a little puzzled as to why this was on offer. On arrival in our room I checked the minibar to see if there was the usual small bottle of fresh milk, which there wasn't and then realised there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
I enquired at reception on checking out as to when and why these had been removed and didn't really get an answer that I understand, was told its because the hotel is now 4* we have to adapt ?
I really don't think that removing these facilities is a good move, we had afternoon tea as part of our package but I don't want to be paying a supplement and be disturbed before breakfast to get my early morning cuppa ! Even budget chain hotels and the like have basic tea and coffee making facilities in the room !!
Apart from this we again had an enjoyable stay to celebrate my birthday, the staff were great and the food exceptional.
We will return but I shall check whether you have reinstated the tea and coffee etc, otherwise I shall be packing a kettle and my own makings, which is not what I would expect to have to do to stay in a hotel of this calibre.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your overnight stay. Rather than guests making their own, many of our customers prefer us to provide the service of delivering morning tea to their room and adding to the luxury experience of their stay. The facilities provided were simply a cost to the customer within the room rate that many didn't use. Please consider that the hotel must pay for the products initially and therefore is built into the room rate.

Rather than increase our rates (You might have noticed your locals overnight stay package price has not increased for 3 years), we simply removed the facilites from the room and held the same rates for all packages as the past 3 years and in some cases reduced. That way the customer is not paying for a faciltity they don't really want but if they decide to have tea they can always order it accordingly.

It is quite normal in a hotel of our style and calibre to offer the service in this way rather than than charge for it in the rate. It's another extra that enhances the service experience and ultimately benefits in savings to our clientele if they choose not to take it.

We stayed here together with friends to celebrate a special birthday. From the minute we arrived nothing was too much trouble. A welcome drink and cream tea in the elegant drawing room and room number 2 which was spacious and immaculate. A lovely balcony overlooking the valley and an enormous bed. A wonderful bathroom with a small jacuzzi bath with lights!! No detail was overlooked to make your stay special, even fresh milk for your coffee and tea much better than those horrid pots!! We ate in the dining room and the meal was fantastic, the service excellent. On the second night we had a private party in the suite which was again wonderful, fantastic waitress and amazing food. Cocktails in the bar just made a perfect evening. we had a 2 night package including flights, car hire, 2 nights in a superior room, dinner both nights breakfast (lovely) and cream tea both days for around £290 per night which we thought was excellent value particularly as the food was incredible. When can we stay again?

Room Tip: Room 2 Hyacinth had a lovely big bed but the jacuzzi will only fit one person!!

We stayed for three nights on a half board 'winter special' package including flight from Southampton and car hire. Excellent service, all very well organised by the hotel and great value for money. We were in a classic room (Marigold) on the second floor and it was warm and comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space, a nice clean bathroom and all in good order. As with most old country houses the plumbing was not perfect and we did run short of hot water on one morning. Breakfast and dinner were excellent and the house wine at £19 for a good merlow was much better than many hotels. Rozel Bay is rather bleak on a windy wet day and the hotel open log fire, large guest lounge and comfortable bar were very welcome. Despite the weather and with the help of such excellent staff we had very good stay.
