“a great day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2014

We arrived just as a tour had started - they seem to be at 10.45 and every hour after - but we tagged along and then re-joined the next tour for 10 minutes to hear what we had missed. Stephen was a great guide (a born raconteur and comedian!) and explained in a very interesting way exactly how the wine was made and included a potted but very interesting history of La Mare. we had 3 wines to taste and 1 liquor plus some of the delicious chocolate made at La Mare. After a good look round we decided to eat at the lovely restaurant which is very light and airy and overlooks the vineyard. All the food is local and freshly made and a reasonable price considering the excellent quality. I would say a visit to La Mare is a must. we bought some wines and then more at the airport in the duty free!

“Could have been better”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

Fab location. Visited Sunday 4 May.

As for the tour, very disappointing. Guides not very engaging and felt it was very rushed. Wasn't ready for the second and third wine tasting but had to drink up and didn't really get to experience the wine tasting - sorry but really wanted to enjoy the experience but was too rushed. Sadly the kitchens were also not open so nothing to see.

“Very good value for money”

Staff were great, shop very reasonable and 10% off if you do the tour. Interesting, nice tasting session. Only problem was the restaurant stopped hot food at 4pm so we missed it. The ponies are the cutest! They don't just do wine but cider, apple brandy, chocolate and fudge! Nom nom

“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2014

Even though it was raining outside, the tour was very interesting. The guide was very informative and explained the methods of our wine, liqueurs and apple brandy production and then offered us a tasting including Jersey Black Butter, luxury chocolates, red, white and rose wines, so we could experience the fruits of their labours!

“An experience to be repeated!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2014

We visited La Mare Wine Estate on Easter day. We went on a tour of the vineyards, the distillery and the chocolate factory, which was interesting and informative and ended with the tasting of some chocolate, three types of wine and the famous and delicious Jersey cream. The guide was helpful and very nice.

Then we visited the shop, which was much better supplied than the same shops in St Helier and at the airport. Lots of gift ideas and naughty food treats for all tastes!

We also had lunch at the restaurant. Nothing special was on for Easter, but what we did have was excellent. We tried the Island Platter, some pasta dishes, chicken schnitzel, and the most appealing desserts! N.B. the menu is more extensive than the one available online. The atmosphere was also pleasant and very relaxed, and the view over the vineyards superb.

Recommended!
