Reviewed 15 April 2014

We have stayed at The Merton many times now and expect to do so again. It is clean, the beds are comfy and the food is great. Staff are very helpful. Rooms overlooking the garden are quieter than those overlooking the road (obviously) but we've been happy with both. Great for kids so best avoid the school holidays if you want a quieter stay!

Wonderful weeks stay at the Merton - lovely clean hotel, staff are very friendly and helpful. The food in the Belevedere restaurant is superb, I am a vegetarian and there was at least 4 main courses on the buffet each evening - no duplication of menu for the week! Loved the food excellent choice and a special thanks to Peter the restaurant manager and David, they are very special people in a very special hotel

Lovely hotel with lots of facilities for the children, staff were lovely, really clean, pool facilities great just too cold. I couldn't take my younger daughter (1 year old) in as it was too cold for her. Such a shame as we had all been looking forward to going swimming as a family. Other than that though a lovely hotel.

We stayed there for a week in December for business and it was great. We had the place virtually to ourselves.
We had the water park place over the road and with the nearby Co-op, self catering was not a problem.
The apartment was one of the Durrell Suites and it was perfect. Clean, spacious, comfortable, with a good sized bathroom and lounge. The bedroom was nice, and the movable wall gave us some privacy at nighttime as our daughter slept on a bunk bed by the lounge.
The kitchen was well equipped and we had no problems cooking with the hob and oven.
The balcony had a lovely view down to the sea and we could see the sun rise and set everyday.
The Merton is a 10/15 minute walk from St Helier, so not in the centre of things if that's what you like. But we wanted somewhere quieter so this was perfect. And had free parking as well, which is a problem in St Helier.
If we were every to go back to jersey, we'd definitely stay at the suites again.
I couldn't set the date we stayed as December 2012, so it's April 13

It is an ok hotel, a bit outside of the city centre but it has most of the entertainment within the hotel, which may or may not be as per your liking. The restaurants within the hotel are good which kind of makes up for the dull ambience. Perhaps if you are with family this hotel will not be a bad choice but if you are on your own. The walk to city centre can seem to be a long one if you are up against bad weather.
