My husband and I stayed at The Merton in early May. We bought a hotel package from Condor Ferries. We had done this for the last five years and I expect we will do it next year for our next wedding anniversary.
What really stands out about The Merton is the restaurant. The standards are so high and never fail. The staff are perfectly trained and treat everyone like royalty. nothing is too much trouble. The food is superb and there is a great choice for dinner each evening. There is a good choice for breakfast. My husband is a meat eater and he tells me the quality of their sausages and bacon is excellent.
This year there was entertainment most nights and we really enjoyed it. I have to say it is suited to the older client and they did seem to have rather a lot of Saga clients, if you get my meaning. But I have to say we visited during the liberation celebrations so that might explain the older clients.
The hotel is within easy walking distance into St Hellier where the shopping is brilliant. I suppose one disadvantage is that it is quite a walk away from the sea, but this has never worried us as we always take our car to tour the island. There is a large car park just across the road and a wonderful indoor/outdoor pool.
Overall I must give The Merton 10/10 and we will be back next May for another wedding anniversary.

It's easy to forget that Merton only is a 3 star hotel as the service provided by the staff is to 5 five stars.

The dinner buffet were also very nice and tasteful.

Very nice hotel for families with a very usefull Aquadome.

Room Tip: Book a family room, if you are a family, very suitable for families.

We stayed for four nights in a group of 48 people. Our group was one of many but the dining room was well organised and we could locate out allocated tables easily. There was a good selection of food in the evening but the breakfast selection was repetative.Unfortunately, the toaster was situated in a corner and always had long queues of people to use it.This led to the area being very conjested and blocked the access to croissant, butter, jams etc.The porridge was watery and lacked taste but the cooked breakfast was good.

The rooms were nicely decorated and modern. They beds were comfortable and the shower was powerful but it is a very large hotel and we had quite a trog to get to our room! The staff were pleasant and willing but they could have done with a few more waiters! However,we enjoyed our stay.

My wife and I have been staying at this hotel for over 30 years and have seen many changes over this period. We have never been let down by the warmth and courtesy of the staff - from the girls who clean our room to the Man in charge - and think that this hotel is a great all rounder with very competitive rates.

The facilities are very good and you would be hard pressed to find anything better. There are at least six 'watering holes', four different places to eat and great entertainment for both adults and kids with live music.

Our only complaint with this establishment is that it closes from late December until Easter and then to find anywhere equivalent to this, we have to go at least four star for our winter break.

Thank you Merton Hotel and keep up the good work.

Visited the restaurant while on holiday and staying in another hotel. We got a recommendation from friends who had stayed at the Merton before. Must say we were not disappointed. Service excellent and food very good. If we're back in jersey we shall return.

Please note that this is a review of the new Merton Suites and not the main hotel.

As soon as you step inside the building you can see that money has been invested well on this facility.

We grabbed a deal a few months ago on one of the smallest self catering apartments (Dodo suite?) in the building but it was more than ample as a base for our family of 4. I cannot comment on other suites but ours had a big wet room, presumably for less abled guests, which was first class. The main open plan accommodation was fine. A huge linked double bed and wall mounted/stored bunk beds for the children were all comfy. There was a small sofa and table to eat at, plus a small table and chairs on the balcony with a view to the south east.

The kitchen area was sufficient for our short stay. Everything was in good order. We would have preferred a small oven over the dishwasher but that is just our personal opinion from our experience staying in self catering units.

Having access to the hotel facilities was great. The pool was enjoyed by our children although maybe a touch cool. They tried out the Kids Zone which was a success. We also got some take away pizza which was really good.

Would recommend the Merton Suites to anyone, especially if there is a deal to be had.

We spent 4 nights here during a week in Jersey. The hotel is very nice, well maintained, clean, with good facilities and very friendly.

We stayed with our 2 year old in a family room which had a second bedroom with bunk beds. The room was very modern with a great bathroom with shower and bath. The hotels pool complex, just over the road was great, we spent and hour or 2 in there every day and our daughter loved it.

Good breakfast too, and very peaceful, in a busy hotel we didn't hear a peep from other guests from our room
