“Wonderful staff”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

We spent 10 days here and thoroughly enjoyed the time. The staff were really first rate, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food is of the highest standard with surroundings to match. The hotel is on the sea front but the traffic did not intrude.

On the down side, preventing us giving an excellent rating, was the room. This, although a standard twin, was smaller than we would have expected. The bathroom is just about ready for a makeover but was still functioning correctly. The room was very hot when we first entered and, despite opening the windows, it remained so hot, we asked the staff for assistance. The main cause seemed to be that there was insufficient insulation between the flat roof above and the room. The problem was resolved when the manager brought up a free standing air conditioner and this brought the temperature down.

The only other small gripe is that the hotel is open for functions and, with music, this can penetrate the rooms somewhat.

Despite the above, we would recommend Cobo to anyone.

Room Tip: Try and avoid the second floor under the flat roof

we spent a week at cobo bay hotel and really enjoyed the hotel and surrounding island.
we had a balconied room and the sunsets were stunning.
room was very clean and such a comfortable bed- one of those beds where you melded into the duvet and woke feeling refreshed and ready for the next walk!
we tried the hot tub after some strenuous walking was sooo nice. steam room looked ok but did not use it.
due to having a balcony we did not lye out on the back terrace roof garden- but it did look comfortable.
the staff could not do enough for us.
the food at breakfast- what a selection and fresh cooked english if desired.
we booked an evening meal twice and thoughly enjoyed the meal- and such a selection to choose from and each day there was a fresh "menu of the day" displayed at reception
we booked via travel smith who arranged condor ferry and hotel package- great service- although we were not in when rep called to check on us- she did leave contact details.
I would recommend this hotel- we had a great week

Room Tip: balcony room if you want to sit and take in the view and have some private space and to see the stun...

I visited the Cobo Bay Hotel on a Stag weekend, so that will probably of affected my views somewhat?

A seemingly well run hotel in a great location, our twin room was large and well equipped. It also had nice little touches such as chocolates and fresh fruit.

The bathroom was both clean and stylish and was one of the best that I have ever seen. The power shower was also a joy once I had conquered the temperature control.

Breakfast was relaxed and I took advantage of the full English Breakfast option which included all the extras that you could wish for.

Overall an impressive hotel, but one which you would probably want to drive to as it is on a rather remote part of the island.

We decided very late to spend a few days in Guernsey and had trouble finding a hotel for 4 nights.
Cobo was a lucky shot. It's right on the beach (well almost), room was comfortable (not great, but okay, we were late and the other rooms looked very good - especially those at the front), breakfast was just perfect. Staff is very efficient and friendly. Only staying so short and so much to do we didn't get the time to sit in the lounge area at the front (very tempting) or get a table in the restaurant everybody writes about. So will have to go back.

I chose this for a late spring break this year after looking at Trip Advisor reviews for several Guernsey hotels taking part in the Conder breaks packages.

We were very pleased with our decision! The welcome was warm, the room clean and spacious with an outlook of the sea breaking on the rocks glimpsed across the neighbouring garden, even though not advertised as a sea view room. We did consider upgrading to one of the front bedrooms with balcony which overlooked the sweep of this wonderful bay but we were too comfortable to move!

The good breakfasts were well prepared and politely served each day & we also enjoyed a delicious dinner in the restaurant, choosing from a well-planned menu.

Staff were all polite and friendly without being intrusive.

The exceptionally cold spring meant that the roof terrace wasn't very tempting but I hope on our next visit that it will be warm enough to stretch out on the loungers and read.

Free wifi was one of my criteria and I was pleasantly surprised that it worked well after poor signal or broken systems in other hotels.

Only downside was that the gym equipment was a bit elderly, but for keen keep-fitters serves its purpose.

My first trip to Guernsey and I was very impressed by the lovely coastline. Cobo Bay has a unique pink granite which gives a lovely glow to the rocks.

Recommended!

Just returned from our first visit to Guernsey. Loved the Coco bay hotel, the staff were brilliant. The restaurant staff couldn't be more helpful and the food is to die for! The seats outside were great to have a drink and watch the sun set. We also made use of the hot tub in the hotel. The room was lovely and clean and a decent size. I would also recommend a visit to Sark for anyone travelling to Guernsey, its an exceptional place.
