Beautifully located across the road from a pristine, white sandy beach. Very helpful and friendly service, especially in the restaurant. Good selection of foods for breakfast. Dinner also tasty and well presented, if a bit expensive. Blankets and patio heaters supplied on the dining Terrace on chilly nights - a nice touch. Clean room and free Wifi and a welcome half bottle of champagne on arrival. Family-friendly.
However, very expensive for a 3 star (£199 B&B per night + £30 for extra single bed). No parking facilities on site (you park 50 yards down the road at a local supermarket). (Ignore the hotel information which talks about exclusive use of a remote-controlled parking area). The grapes in the fruit bowl in the room were mouldy. The Jacuzzi was out of order in the 'Health Suite' and guests had to turn on the sauna in advance of wanting to use it, the dumb bells were a little rusty. The toiletries in the bathroom were locked in place on the wall, making it difficult to use the gel to have a bubble bath and the body lotion was 'off'. Sharp edges on bedside table at pillow height.
However, if you could obtain the corporate rate of around £50 per night as advertised in the hotel, this would be a bargain!

Room Tip: Corner room with small balcony and outdoor table and chairs still gives a beautiful view of the suns...

Dear Tom,

I am sorry that your overall impression of the hotel was not as positive as we would have liked but can assure you that we are much more than just an average 3-star hotel.

If some of the grapes in your fruit bowl were not fresh then I can only apologise as that should not have been allowed to happen, and I am also sorry for the inconvenience of the hot tub not being in service during your stay – we are currently awaiting new parts to be delivered from the UK. Unfortunately the weights do rust slightly as they are kept in a humid environment and we do not keep the sauna permanently on in order to save electricity but it only takes 10 minutes to heat up.

Our bedrooms are designed and rated to 4* standards and as you upgraded to one of our superior rooms with a private balcony and sea-views you were of course charged a supplement for that. However I still believe that out ‘Long Weekend Luxury Break Package’ offers very good value, especially as it was over the August Bank Holiday weekend - the height of peak season. Not only did your package include Champagne on arrival as you have mentioned but also complimentary car hire (excl. fuel & insurance) and our award-winning breakfasts each morning. WiFi is also free as you have mentioned and despite the hot tub not working, you were still able to use our sauna and steam room free of charge and enjoy other little perks you might not expect in an ‘average’ hotel like fluffy bathrobes, slippers and Sky channels on your bedroom television. Our restaurant prices may also be higher than some establishments on the island but then that is the price you pay for the quality of food and service you experienced as well as the fantastic location. Finally, the corporate rate advertised of £49 per night is a lead-in price for a single room on a bed & breakfast basis in winter.

With regards to our hotel parking, there are a small number of spaces available on site as well as the parking area at the rear of the property, which we do inform our guests about prior to arrival as you have alluded to, although I am sorry if this was not followed through and explained fully to you upon check-in. For the benefit of other potential guests reading this I would advise reading the ‘Hotel Facilities’ page of our website for more information.

Despite our difference in opinion, I am very disappointed that you did not leave with a better impression of the hotel but hope that you enjoyed your weekend on the island.

Kind regards,

Luke

Lovely hotel. Only criticism is that the car park is a fair distance away because you can't through next door's property and have to go around the houses, literally. Nice for a romantic getaway overlooking the sea

A beautifully positioned hotel with a dog free beach immediately opposite and wonderful sunsets. Let down at the moment though, and unfortunately I believe for the past few months, by the restaurant/bar next door (The Rockmount) which has been, and continues to be, a building site. Visiting in early August the workmen started from before 0800 each morning (Banging, drilling and saw cutting noises) and this included both the Saturday and Sunday that we were staying. Suffice to say it was not quite the restful and relaxing start to each morning that my wife and I had hoped. The noise problems were further exacerbated by having a cleaners cupboard outside our bedroom door and fire escape stairs at the back of the hotel which staff members regularly clanged up and down when gearing up for the day ahead it seemed. Eventually we did manage to be slightly amused by the whole experience and it has to be said that the breakfast and restaurant staff were both very good.

Room Tip: A word to the wise - check your room location before booking and avoid The Rockmount side of the hot...

As advertised, this is a 3 star hotel with 5 star service. I can only repeat what everyone else has said - it's the attention to details such as the fruit, bath robes & slippers, variety & quantity of teas coffees supplied etc., together with the beautifully decorated rooms which makes this hotel special. Add to that, the wonderful terrace from which to dine or just have drinks, with the superb sunsets and the combination is an absolute winner. All the staff gave excellent, very friendly service and advice. Very good choices for continental and/or full English breakfast. The food was a little pricey, but was certainly worth it.The only down side was the slight lack of noise insulation, and as we were on the first floor, we found the noise levels in the room above quite intrusive at times. That said, it will still be our first choice if/when we return to Guernsey.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room to avoid overhead noise levels & would certainly be worth paying the ex...

We have just returned from a two week stay at the hotel and have agreed that this is one of the best places we have ever stayed. Although we were unable to secure a balcony room at the height of the summer season room 211 was spacious, thoughtfully decorated and had a lovely bathroom with an excellent shower! The decor and the flower arrangements in the hotel were of a really high standard and it felt really welcoming. Reception staff were really friendly and helpful without exception and we felt they got to know us well during our stay. Although there have been comments about car parking issues we were given a printed sheet with information about where to park and had no problems with this. The restaurant and bar staff were superb. Nothing was too much trouble and they obviously work extremely hard! They were good humoured and extremely professional, especially the restaurant manager. Cobo Bay itself is stunning in all weathers and the sunsets were fantastic. We had exceptionally good weather which meant the terrace was very busy, but ,as hotel guests we were always found a table for a meal or a drink. There is plenty to explore locally , on foot or by taking advantage of the regular bus service if you don't feel like driving. Cannot fault any aspect of our stay!

Lets start from the beginning we checked in and went to our room what a view from our balcony right accross the bay. Well worth paying a little extra for. There is so much attention to detail in the room, from a tv guide magazine opened to todays date, to fruit and a wide range of hot drinks. Its definitly worth more that the 3 star rating apparently it is only 3 star not 4 because of the room sizes but I found ours to be more than adequate size. We went down to the terrace for a drink, what a spot! only the road separates it from the beach. You can eat outside too but we opted to eat inside and the restaurant was superb. The staff are very professional, efficient and friendly and the food is a little expensive but very tasty and filling. There are 2 bars the sports bar looked ok when we popped out heads round the door but we didnt use it as the guests bar was so cosy and comfortable with books and games to make you really feel at home. There is also a sun terrace and a gym room which we didnt use as we were only here a few days but would have had we been there longer. The hotel is a little isolated, its about 10 minutes walk to the next hotel/bar and a chippy and a few shops, and 10 minutes the other way to another cafe/bar and kiosk in the day. So if you want somewhere a bit more bustling stay at st peter port, but we were happy to spend evenings and meals at the hotel complex it was so relaxing and welcoming. Few slight downsides -the wi fi wasnt the most reliable, which is a little inconvenient as the channel islands charge for data/calls/messages. Like I mentioned the food was a little pricey but nice, but some things seemed a bit unjust -£2.50 for a pint of lime and soda, desserts £6-7. Also parking is a bit tight, not that it mattered to us as we got the plane, id definitly recommend doing it that way rather than drive as we had a few cringy moments waching people trying to park in tight spaces, you can walk around the island quite easily and the buses always seemed to be on time and are only £1 per trip. finally, special mention to the German barman what a dude!

Room Tip: its worth paying for a sea view and/or balcony

The location and outdoor seating make this hotel. Cobo Bay is beautiful and sitting outside having a drink or dinner let's you seen some amazing sunsets.

I would say this is a very good 3 star hotel, they advertise being a 3 star hotel with a 5 star service which I would disagree with.

The service outside on a busy evening is poor, sometimes we waited 25minutes for 2 drinks to arrive from the time we placed our order. The staff don't seem to have tables or areas that they look after, it seemed a bit random. One evening when we had dinner outside quite a few tables were getting frustrated at the delays in bringing out the food.

The breakfasts are good with a range of continental and cooked options. For Dinner I had the fish and chips which was a different take on this classic dish with 5 types of fish, cooked in different ways, which i really enjoyed

We had a room at the back of the hotel which was small for 2 people each with a suitcase. There was a bath, normal tea and coffee facilities. TV had around a dozen channels with access to Sky Sports

Would recommend a room at the front of the hotel so that you get the sea and sunset views.

The Jacuzzi was out of order for the duration of our stay.

Hotel has free wifi, which was a bit hit and miss in our room, sometimeshad to stand in the corridor. It also doesn't work in some parts of the restaurant or outside on the terrace.

Would recommend having a car if you are going to be staying for a few days,or you can have bikes delivered to the hotel.

A taxi into St Peter Port was £10 on the way in and £13 on the way back (late at night). You can also get a bus into the capital.

There is a local chippy 1 minutes walk away. It has benches outside or you can eat on the beach. Also you can walk to Crabby Jacks, which is about 20mins along the coast.
