stayed for 5 nights. All staff very helpful. Food great - we were on a B&B deal but ate in the bar a few nights as food good quality and good value. Good peaceful location, very short walk to cobo bay.
Rooms clean and comfortable. Only downside was very small bathroom

Peaceful location and nicely positioned for the coast but quality is well below the price paid - £150 pn for a suite on B&B. For that price I don't expect torn upholstery, stains on the walls, a tiddly TV getting just 4 channels, a shower that leaked on to the floor ( the promised plumber never arrived) net curtains that fell down( the soft glue is on the walls) and extensive peeling paintwork .

The young waiting staff are generally well organised, very hard working and professional although not that much smiling on offer. The bar food is good quality and the breakfast decent.

WIFI was not available in all rooms said the receptionist due to the thick walls. On further inquiry a different member of staff said it was only available in reception. Here is where you can hear all the hotel business being discussed e.g how much to pay the agency chef, why his performance didn't merit his pay. And then how many rooms the hotel has lodged with an agency and would that agency please tell us if they have sold any of the rooms - very unprofessional. And when the sun is out the small conservatory gets too warm.

The general appearance both inside and out is of a tired set of buildings and fabric and no sign of passion for the product .Could not possibly recommend this hotel whose 3 stars must be in doubt.

Room Tip: Not room 23.

Hougue Du Pommier is in a wonderful location. The gardens are pretty and the pool area, breakfast and broadband are all excellent. HOWEVER, the standard rooms are in desperate need of updating, and the decor and facilities are very basic. In fairness, having complained we were put in a bigger, better room - nevertheless this room still had grubby blankets and stained valance, the shower was woefully inadequate with mold on the mat and the shower frame and the towel rail wiring was exposed and unsafe. In an effort to please, the management did arrange for duvets and clean bedding and so they certainly did their best. Despite this, the need for an upgrade meant that there was little more they could do. To be fair, the beds were changed regularly and towels changed daily, but until the tired, dated and shabby rooms are upgraded there is no way that this hotel can be anything but very basic. I understand that the premium rooms have been updated recently - so this, I suspect, is a hotel of two halves. One side caters for package deals and the other for the independent traveler paying for a premium room.
Super location though - and the bar food was nice even though the menu was next to impossible to read because of the frilly, italic font.

Room Tip: A hotel of two halves - good and bad.

Overall our trip was very enjoyable. Nice, friendly owner and staff. Clean rooms, pleasant gardens and the weather was superb. The only negative comment I would make is that the restaurant staff were not quite as flexible as they could have been. We liked to dine in the bar but one night it was full so we asked if we could eat in the (empty) restaurant but eat from the bar menu. We were told no.
However, to end on a positive I will say that the mussels in cream sauce were the best I have ever eaten and one day we will return.

The hosts of Hougue du Pommier were most gracious in making our stay a memorable one. A quaint hotel, with a feel of home, beautifully decorated, yet not overstated. Our room was bigger than most hotels with beautiful views all round of enchanting Guernsey. Close to Cobo Beach front which allows for many evenings enjoying the magnifiscent Guernsey sunsets. We will definitely be returning to Hougue du Pommier soon!

We travelled on a package holiday, which included a hire car and air travel from gatwick, that meant if you worked out the actual price paid for the hotel was quite low. My friend however who travelled separately paid rack rate and in my opinion it was not worth the full price. The rooms were dated with sheet, blanket and very heavy throw. My friend had to ask for an extra blanket as she was cold and there was not heating in her room despite struggling with the radiator. During our weeks stay there was a towel shortage and we waited two days for clean dry towels, they also ran out of coke at thebar, and vanilla ice cream in the restaurant. On the up side, the hotel is in a nice position only minutes from beautiful beaches and by car, nothing is very far away in Guernsey. The staff were efficient but not overly friendly as was the receptionist. We finally got friendly remarks on our last day. All in all, I would stay again if I could get the same excellent rates, but certainly wouldnt if I had to paythe full rates. By the way, there is no lift, so mention you need a ground floor room if you are in any way disabled.

Loved this hotel. Great location and grounds. Friendly and helpful staff, excellent restaurant with very prompt service and good cooking. Room could probably benefit from being redecorated but was spotlessly clean and tidy. If we come to Guernsey again we would definitely choose this hotel.
