My friend and I booked this hotel 24 hours before we travelled due to the fact that our flight to Dubrovnik was cancelled owing to the volcanic ash. We were lucky to get anywhere at this stage however, we were not disappointed. The hotel was very nice, situated in a quiet area but close to a bus stop and a 10 minute walk to other hotel restaurants and bars. The room was perfectly adequate and very clean. There was a choice of either eating in the bar or in the restaurant and the food was excellent with plenty of choice. There was a good atmosphere in the hotel due to the fact that the staff were so very friendly and helpful, and the reception staff especially, really went out of their way to help us with our strange requests and it was all done with a good sense of humour!

Most helpful, we had to extend our stay due to the volcanic ash and flight delays. We were able to retain our rooms and the management were able to give us up to date info as to what was happening with all aspects of the delays. We can highly reccomend any age group to stay.we had a magic time. Again many thanks. Sylvia and John, Betty and Roger, from Leicester.

Rude treatment at front desk on arrival. Room small and substandard; old blanket and bedspread on bed. Mattress that sunk in middle when sitting on edge of bed. Breakfast very very basic and not much selection. Cleaning hit or miss. Some lightbulbs missing in hallways. Many corners cut, like cheap toilet paper in the rooms, cheap food, etc. A big disappointment all around and nearly ruined our holiday, had we not made it a point to only come back late for sleeping only. Only ray of hope was nice Polish staff member at breakfast.

Dear uamnone

I would like to take this opportunity to reply to your review.

I was shocked and disappointed to read your review. As Manager of the hotel we are always striving to improve our service and from our previous reviews believed we were on the right tracks. Since taking over from the previous owners just a year ago we have received many welcoming and positive reviews.

We would have really appreciated your feedback during your holiday so that we could have addressed any issues of concern with yourself directly and hopefully this could have prevented such a negative review and helped you to have had a more enjoyable stay.

On one note that you made regarding breakfast: we have a selection of twenty three items to choose from, not including tea, coffee and toast.

I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that we might have caused you during your stay with us and hope that you will give us the opportunity to speak with you or correspond via email so that we can address the matters personally.

Kind regards

Mr Malcolm Davies
Group General Manager, Guernsey

We went for a 3 star hotel option. You do pay for what you get. Good side-dedicated housekeeping staff who do an excellent job-spotless rooms. Breakfast service staff always cheerful and polite. Baggage taken up to rooms-nice touch. Grounds well manicured and maintained.
Down side- Decor dated (80's chintz) and whilst rooms were comfortable enough, the noise throughout the night and early morning (before 7am) was terrible from the slamming of the fire doors. VERY thin walls, we could hear our neighbours having a bath and switching on light! The corridor was very cold and our radiator was not working for the last day of our stay, this was reported and yet nothing was done about it.
Would have been nice to have seen more local produce available at breakfast ie butter and yogurts etc.

Decor slightly tired but compensated for the excellent food and service .The room was in need of decoration but was very clean and comfortable and had the best nights sleep(very quiet) Location excellent with bus stop just outside hotel. You really do not need to hire a car as bus service is great( only 6op to go round the island)
Would love to come back !!

This place was a haven - cosy, warm, inviting, great food and a relaxing place to be in. Perfect for a February week when much of the Island was closed up! We stayed for 7 nights and felt it became a 'home' to return to. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you. We would go again and heartily recommend the hotel.

We stayed at Hougue De Pommier in early December. From the moment we arrived the hotel welcome was as warm as the hotel. It was a delight to be met by smiling faces from staff who genuinely wanted to help. Our room was simply fantastic, constantly warm, large king size bed, super size bathroom, large fluffy towels, spotlessly clean and cozy. We had satellite TV, bath, shower, plenty of hot water, all the amenities that you could want in a hotel room. The view from the room across the gardens was exquisite and added to the relaxing atmosphere of our visit.

The bar and restaurant are well decorated and are a joy to sit in and unwind. To complement this there is a fine selection of wine, beers and spirits, and they are not overly expensive. The selection of food was fab. We ate there many times and it was always excellently cooked, well presented, very tasty and well proportioned. I fell in love with with the ample full English breakfast, it kept me going during the cold mornings.

This was our first visit to the hotel and we found Malcolm to be back bone of a highly efficient, well run hotel, nothing was too much trouble for either Malcolm or his staff. In so many hotels the staff are lack luster and often appear to be disinterested, but not here, they seem to thrive on ensuring your needs are met, always meeting you with a cheery Hello" or something similar, it made all the difference.

We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone, even parking the car was a joy as they have ample parking for everyone, day and night.
