My husband and I booked in for 1 night after a firms function - this was booked on 28th September - I am in a wheelchair and stated when booking my needs of a toilet with grab rails to enable me to get on and off the toilet -i wasn't to bothered about the shower as it was only for one night - the booking clerk confirmed that this was all in order and that they had a number of rooms with this facility. When we turned up on the day of the event (01/12/12) we checked and given they key to a ground floor room - it was impossible to get onto the toilet no rails, a basin set in a work top that came halfway up my husbands chest- We went back to reception and said that this room was no good and we were told by the receptionist that they had no disabled rooms - we were shown other room and that was even worse - it had a bidet next to the toilet, I couldn't get anywhere near it. We settled on the first room - I had to use the disabled toilet in the bar/resturant area (which was well set out the the appropriate rails). I couldn't even wash my face of clean my teeth in the room bathroom. We left this morning refusing to pay the balance of the bill (£38) as we didn't get the facilities we were promised

Myself and my partner stayed for just one night after a function at the start of this month. On arrival the lobby and function area looked fantastic, modern with its down lighting and cool music and really inviting and the staff were fantastic all night making sure everybody was well catered for. We stayed in the Penthouse, which had its own huge living room / kitchen and our bed a great big four poter which overlooked the back courtyard and swimming pool and behind this was the beautiful golf course. A huge buffet breakfast with a lot of choice awaited us in the morning! Only problem we had was we only booked one night! We will definately stay here again :o)

Room Tip: Choose P3!

We exchanged through RCI timeshare into this resort which is mainly a golf club with a hotel. The bedroom was enormous with double doors looking out over the roof of the leisure centre towards the sea and had a fabulously comfortable super kingsize bed. The bathroom was well appointed with a huge walk in shower and the lounge/kitchen was also good sized. We had a fridge, microwave and toaster which was OK for breakfast and snacks but we did have to eat out. This wasn't a problem while we were there as there were plenty of good restaurants and the Tennerfest was on which meant better value. We ate lunch in the bistro in the hotel one day which was £12.50 a head for 3 courses (smallish portions but tasty). The staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Our suite on the first floor at the front was excellent.

We came to la grande mare 2 years ago with our 3 children. Having decided to come back to Guernsey this year there was only one place to stay.
Following a very rough and delayed arrival we were met by the night porter who showed us to our self catering unit which was immaculate.
The facilities were first class. The restaurant was busy in the week we stayed there were 3 weddings but we never felt that we were excluded and ate in the restaurant twice and sat by the pool for cream tea most days.
Food was great and service excellent.
We are keen to return next year and I know where we'll be staying.
Have and would recommend this fantastic hotel.

As with previous reviewers we also booked a nights stay using the QuidsIn deal. We went for our wedding anniversary, having had our wedding reception at La Grande Mare seven years ago. Our wedding was fantastic, we had no complaints at all so we were expecting our stay to be fault free and it was!
Check in couldn't have been faster or less fuss free. The rooms have been upgraded and are beautifully presented, there was nothing we could have needed that was not already there. We were given a studio room with a small terrace and it was lovely. I don't think we have ever had such a big or more comfortable bed anywhere before!
We had afternoon tea which was very nice, not really our thing, but no faults with this. The food in the brasserie was excellent and breakfast in the morning was delicious! Drinks were reasonably priced.
We found ourselves wondering on checkout why we had not done this every year to mark our anniversary and will deffinitely be back.
Thank you to all the staff at La Grande Mare for another wonderful stay with you!
