“Lovely comfortable hotel”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

We stayed 5 nights at this hotel and after a 5 hour flight delay, we arrived at the hotel rather late (10.30pm). The hotel staff showed us to our room which was on the ground floor. The receptionist gave us a quick run through of our room. Realising we were hungry as we had missed our evening meal, offered to make a sandwich which we could have in our room or in the bar. We chose the bar area so we could get a quick drink in. The room was bright, clean with a lovely size bathroom. The room had a shower cubical and a bath, so we had a choice. The room had a double bed (which was very comfortable, and a comfortable single bed as we went as a family). We were given nice clean towels each day in the bathroom. While we were there we did use the gym, pool, Jacuzzi and steam room, which was was great. If it does rain and want to stay in the hotel, it gives you things to do. There's an area where you can sit and read quietly connected to the pool area, and a lounge area with lovely views to a green grassed area, so you can sit quietly and read if you wish. The entrance to the hotel had lovely flower boxes and all looked really good. We visited the restaurant a couple of times while we were there. The first evening the food was large portions and really nice, the second evening I was not over keen. Too much salt for me, and had to leave most of it. Perhaps at home I am more on the 'not adding' too much to my food. The portions were generous, but the taste was not for me.
Overall the hotel is good hotel and I would stay again, but perhaps go out for meals.

Room Tip: We had a room on the ground floor and could see cars parked close by. The room was lovely, clean and...

we got held up last day of our holiday due to fog. The airline put us into this hotel which, having stayed at the Fermain Valley we were not happy about. However the owner and staff were sympathetic to two tired, grumpy guests and did their best. Cossie let us stay in our room an extra few hours, free of charge so we were not hanging round the airport. All in all he made a bad situation much better and for this I commend and thank him and his staff.

Room Tip: very good value for mobey and friendly staff

We stayed for 5 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We found the hotel clean and nicely decorated throughout. Staff were very friendly and the owner introduced himself and gave us a complementary bottle of wine to celebrate our event. The breakfast was excellent with a great choice and all came freshly cooked and nicely presented. We ate in the restaurant each evening where the menu consists of firm favourites and portions were generous and nicely cooked. We were happy with our stay and would not hesitate to return.

The Missus and I stayed at La Villette for the week before Easter - and we loved every minute of it.

We found the premises to be very clean and well cared for. The exterior is as inviting as the interior is - in a certain "old school British" manner - cozy. Unfortunately the walls between rooms seem to be somewhat thinner than we build houses today but this didn't affect us much since there was only one room with a common wall and our neighbours were rather quiet.
Room size is adequate, especially if one considers that the Resident's Lounge and the in-house-Spa areas offer ample possibilities in case one gets trapped by bad weather.

Top notes to the hotel staff (especially to June!) as well as to the restaurant and bar employees. And to the reception staff and management, too - in contrast to some (older) reviews we found them all very forthcoming, helpful and with a healthy sense of humour. No trace of bullying whatsoever...

Breakfast was a treat every morning, freshly cooked and rather tasty, served with speed and a ready smile from everybody.
The same goes for dinner; definitely none of the meals we had came from the microwave but were all freshly cooked. Here again the staff proved to be very capable, friendly and competent.

The quality of this hotel's table did not only convince our European palates but the fact that quite some local people came to dine tells me that this hotel is on the right way.

We certainly look forward to our next stay there!

Traveled with a 7 year old and a 1 year old, so the flight distance was great. transfer time to the hotel brilliant. First impressions the hotel is well maintained and pleasant. Staff on the reception desk were very helpful as we arrived to early to check in, however they kept our luggage and offered various places to go to fill the time. En suite Room on the ground floor was adequate for a family of four, the travel cot was in the room all ready for us. There was no air conditioning so had to open windows to keep the room cooler. Booking is recommended for evening meal and is only in the bar, (the main restaurant seems to be kept only for breakfast!), the menu had a good selection as did the children's menu. However, service let our first night meal down, having to wait and possibly be forgotten with the food turning up overcooked, hence we did not eat here again until the last night! Facilities in the hotel were good with the choice of indoor and outdoor pools. Good changing facilities inside but outdoor ones were a little dated.

Room was clean and well appointed, excellent pool facilities and close to the airport. The staff are hardworking and pleasant however, the manager was extraordinarily rude and so was a man who was drinking at the bar and who came over to our table - turned out he was the owner. We felt sorry for the restaurant staff who were doing their best and were clearly embarrassed at the way we were treated. Would not choose to stay here again because of owner and management attitude.
