“THANK GOODNESS FOR THE SAINTS BAY HOTEL”
Reviewed 24 November 2011

When my wife was rushed to hospital last week with a sudden severe illness whilst we were on a short 4-day break to the Saints Bay Hotel, the amazing staff 'team' roared into action. Nothing was too much for every member of staff and we will never forget their kindness, friendliness and genuine concern, not only for my wife but also myself. During my 'extended' stay, I had plenty of time to witness the excellence of the hotel facilities - the cleanliness, comfortable rooms and superb dining facilities and cuisine - all at very reasonable tariffs.
To Jamie, Ze, the girls and everybody at this wonderful 'jewel' in Guernsey, thank you so much for everything, especially the glorious flower arrangement sent to my wife in hospital. To you readers, please rest assured we will return to this intimate and pleasurable hotel to re-iterate our thanks and properly enjoy the hospitality the Saints Bay Hotel delivers.

Room Tip: Ours was an 'en-suite' room, with lots of space, light and the expected room facilities and...

Went in August for a week, wedding anniversary, superior room????? don't think so, dirty carpet, walls marked from water ingress, shower screen useless, hate to think what a standard room would have been like!!!!!!!!, more contractors in hotel than holidaymakers most nights, most staff helpful but some just didn't understand the lingo!!!!, hotel needed a good refurbish, pool area needed a good tidy up (surrounded by tab ends & weeds). Spent most nights up at the BARBARIE, far superior, excellent staff, excellent food, Cobo Bay Hotel was also much superior. Saints Bay Hotel had a lot of potential but did not deliver a 3 star deal. Guernsey is a brilliant place, choose your hotel with care.ETER

Room Tip: Find one in another hotel !!!!!!!!!!!!

I had originally booked for a deluxe bedroom however on arriving at the room (after having walked down a long corridor in pitch black) I found that infact we had been given a superior room which was quite small and crowded. The bathroom ceiling also seemed as though it was going to come down on us- it wasnt in the best state ever. The bathmat was the only thing that was dirty. I made the receptionist aware of this and he apologised and offered to move us to another room however, after having unpacked. We decided to give it a miss. We had dinner in the restaurant which I must say was lovely and the waitress was extremely friendly!
Overall we were satisfied with our stay but the receptionist made a small adjustment to our bill As we had not been given quite what we came for. Tennerfest menu excellent however!

A very relaxed short break with my mother & sister. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly, including meeting my request for rooms near to each other by upgrading our party to superior ground floor rooms. Great location especially for south coast walking.

Have done 6 tennerfests and this since been taken over in August 2011 is by far the best ! All the food was excellent and a great showcase of what the food would be like at full price. We would recommend this to anyone- a restaurant to watch!!

This was our second visit to this hotel. We previously stayed here in October 2005. The location and facilities suit us well.

The hotel is very clean, the staff all friendly and helpful and the restaurant food very good and now good value for money. The food has improved since our previous visit, though we would have liked to see the a-la-carte menu varied throughout the week.

Our room (42) was a little disappointing, it was extremely cramped. The wardrobe was barely big enough for one persons' clothes let alone a couple. No where to stash the cases out of the way and a tight squeeze past the corner of the bed. The bathroom had been decorated completely in emulsion (including all pipes and wood work) and paint spots and splashes covered all of the fittings, floor and door. The hotel should not use this decorator again. It would not have taken a lot to clean up but no one has bothered. The shower flow was very weak and we had to run the hot water tap for up to five minutes to get hot water through.

I mentioned how cramped the room was to the receptionist and she offered to move us to another room but we had unpacked and did not think it worth the hassle of moving. All of the receptionists were helpful offering advice, booking ferry trips and always happy to have a chat when we passed the desk.

Ranialdo, (sorry if I spelt your name wrong) the restaurant manager was very attentive and always happy to oblige with our culinery requests. He is a great asset to the restaurant.

Overall this was an enjoyable stay and if our bathroom had been better we would have given the hotel an excellent rating as apposed to very good.

We only stopped 3 nights, visiting family, but we were very pleased with the hotel. All the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room for a 3 star hotel was very good, I particuarly liked the dressing gowns, give me slippers next time and I will give it 5 stars. The views and walks around the hotel were also great, next time I hope we have time to see much more. Because we were visiting family we only had breakfast plus one afternoon tea. All very good, maybe nextime when we stay longer we can enjoy the meals in the evening. Altogether a very good short break and definitly will stay again.
