This hotel is marketed as luxury and we had one of the more expensive rooms which was very comfortable, clean with excellent facilities. Sadly, there are other elements of this hotel that really bring it down. The staff were a significant problem, particularly the manager. His charm was superficial and we were not left with the impression he cared about his guests at all, in fact he seemed bored with them. On arrival he gave a beautiful performance to his work experience student of how to do a 30 second guide to the island and scribbled all over the map - not helpful. Our holiday was a special occasion but he made no effort to engage in any meaningful conversation and following our arrival, he was barely able to make eye contact. The breakfast staff tried really hard to be polite but breakfasts were a shambles. They frequently got the orders wrong, had to be reminded every day to bring a supply of bowls and I really did not appreciated being called 'darling' all the time by one of the male members - I felt so patronised. I was shocked that an hotel of alleged quality served plastic, cheap sliced bread and the coffee was not drinkable - so weak and when a top up was requested, they just poured extra water into the coffee pot - unforgivable. Based on the breakfasts we decided not to risk dinner as there are plenty of good restaurants locally with welcoming, genuine staff. The swimming pool had not been cleaned so I was disinclined to use it. The staff were always out the back of the hotel smoking, gossiping (including the manager) and there is nothing wrong with this, but as a guest, I did not want to see it. So, I will not go back and I will not recommend this hotel to anyone else.
