I have been visiting Guernsey for many years and often stay with family, so it was a rare treat to visit with my own family (partner and two children) and stay in a fabulous hotel. We arrived into St Peter Port on the Condor and it took us less than 10 mins to reach the hotel. It's in a superb location, a short walk down to Moulin Huet Bay (great for rock pooling) with its beach cafe and within easy reach of all the other beaches/attractions etc.
It's a beautiful building with immaculate gardens and a pool (which we didn't use much unfortunately as it was sooooo cold!), and the decor is beautiful. On arrival the staff were friendly and polite, and continued to be throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble (they even offered to baby sit for us when they discovered that the baby monitor hadn't been charged up). The room - amazing. Finally, a family room that comfortably accommodated a family! Extremely comfortable king size bed, a sofa bed for our eldest son and a cot for our youngest, and still loads of room to move around. Lovely view over the garden too, although we were in the corner room by the road and it was quite noisy (but we are talking about Guernsey here, not a bustling city!). I had a fabulous pedicure in the Spa, which was beautifully appointed, and the therapist was very friendly and provided us with some useful local information about places to visit. The food was also delicious, top notch.
Only two very small niggles: one morning we came down the breakfast at 8.30 (which I don't consider to be unreasonably late) and the fruit had run out and wasn't replenished, plus our cooked breakfast orders were wrong several times. Also there was a BBQ being held at the hotel one night for non residents and we were told at very short notice that dinner would not be available as the chefs were busy with the event. As we have young children it was not an option to then go out so we felt a bit let down. These small things did not spoil our stay but made it fall short of outstanding.
We will almost certainly return and would have no hesitation recommending the hotel to family and friends. For me it was the epitome of boutique hotel chic.
