We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice food. Buses stop right outside the hotel and hence very convenient for travel to town/airport or around Guernsey. Would stay again if visiting Guernsey.

Stayed for four nights half board. Staff all very friendly and keen to help. Room was small, but met our needs and was kept very clean. Meals were delicous, hot and varied but helpings too big. Bus stop outside hotel for short ride into town. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Short bus ride from St Peter Port.

Visited Guernsey for the first time on a short break. Lovely Island, with beautiful sandy beaches. We stayed at this hotel located about 15 minutes from St Peters Port. The hotel is well located with good access to the excellent local buses. We found some of the smaller roads on Guernsey a bit narrow, so we decided that exploring the island by bus was easier and is good value (£1.00 per journey).
The hotels itself was clean, the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The food particularly from the hotel's bar menu was superb. The beer battered cod is recommended. Overall a good relaxing break and I would certainly stay there again.

On our return to La Trelade nearly a year later we still found the place peaceful, relaxing, quirky and friendly. What's not to like ? Well, we would love to see the management having more fun as well. We know its hard running a hotel but it seems to be really getting them down - Owner Mike, wife Irene and lovely daughter (whose name I forget) are all working their socks off. Their concern is probably because it would cost a fortune to update the place to its full potential, The furniture and decor is a bit dated and, in some cases, tatty, the would-be sumptuous swimming pool and spa needs a facelift (including even the most minor cosmetic repairs to gashes and scrapes) and the amazing ballroom seems dreadfully under-used (except for the odd private function). The exterior also needs a lot of attention and it is, frankly, quite shambolic around the back where they could have a fabulous area with some new decking attached to the rear of the pool and an overhaul of the spacious garden (currently weedy). Honestly, I'm saying all this with the best intentions. We love the place, Its lots better than the 3-star where we used to stay in Guernsey - and where, up to now, we used to still often eat at night. Now we have discovered that La Trelade has a fabulous chef and we will consider half-board rather than bed and breakfast next time. Don't know why we didn't spot this before when, to be honest, the food we had there last year was dreadful - and also dreadfully expensive on an a la carte basis. .We had a spot of illness on this holiday but our host's attention and care in the middle of the night was very admirable. He also gave us champagne, free breakfast and flowers on our arrival (our wedding anniversary). Thanks Mike - and cheer up cos you have charming and hard-working Carlos as restaurant and bar manager, supported by a very dilligent and friendly staff. Carlos's daughter Jessica is also there now on reception supporting top man Mark, a superbly helpful and efficient manager. Some people might dislike the aircraft noise (its near the airport) early in the morning but we reckon it saves us setting an alarm clock. And the little Aurigney planes sound almost like WW2 Spitfires ! We'll certainly be back again unless we can find an alternative at the same price that has rooms just as comfortable but also with a bathroom with a window which you can open to relieve hot and sticky nights on this lovely isle.

Room Tip: You must have a front-facing room and not be worried by using an old-fashioned key to get in it (eve...

We stopped here for 10 nights in June. Our room was comfortable and clean. The hotel staff were excellent looking after our needs. Good breakfasts and good bar and restaurant meals in the evenings. Didn't use the spa and gym so couldn't comment on them. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel which is convenient for St Peter Port and the round island bus.
We had a great stay and the hotel moved us to a 4* hotel for our last two nights when they had an overbooking on a coach trip.
Guernsey is a great holiday destination, lots of beaches, bit expensive for a drink, but cheap for petrol and diesel. so if you take your car make sure its empty when you get there. £1.19 /litre.

Stayed at this hotel for a week on Guernsey during the liberation festivities. We were made most welcome by all the people of Guernsey they are the most helpful people. The food at the La Trelade was very good,, there is also a pool gym and ballroom. Social dancing each Saturday night visitors welcome and we were made very welcome.
The hotel is on several bus routes so easy access to all the island, a round island trip is good for £2 and during peak periods there is a bus almost every 15mins.
We also walked, but dont be taken in by the Route Tranquilles as they are not tranquil, the whole island is chocker block with traffic it was like being in some parts of London. Every person seems to have a car cant think why with such a good bus system.
There are some war time museums to see but the walking routes along the coast are a delight although not easy. much climbing up and down.
If you want a respite from traffic go to Herm its peaceful and tranquil.
However the La Trelade fit the bill for us.

Room Tip: We had no complaint about our room it was well decorated, warm, clean, and quiet. Plenty of room to...

Positives of our stay..Restaurant staff welcoming and food breakfast and dinner plentiful, good choice and good value for money, good layout to hotel and facilities itself.
Negatives of stay decor of hotel seemed very dated, health spa requires good clean matting around pools are filthy and roof area requires attention as holed and does not represent pictures available on website.
Also to note facilities were closed on a bank holiday from 1400 for the day .. not ideal.
No facilities available during the day for drinks coffee or water ...??
Room was clean but bath mixer tap for shower had press buttons missing with the towel rail on constant sauna temperature without a thermostat to adjust it.
Make sure you are not in a room next to the house keeping lift as staff are in and out of the room from 7.45 am everyday so no chance of a lay in whilst visiting.
Hotel itself is in a great location close to st peters port on a main bus route costing £2 each way only and only a stones throw away from the airport, which is apparent due to the hotel being on the main flight path route for all flights to land/ take off.
Checkout of room on day of departure was a early 10am but did offer a luggage room to house baggage until transfer that evening.
Reception staff were pleasant but if any questions were directed there way as in asking for taxis to be booked etc then it seemed a chore.
Hotel la Trelade, good location, good restaurant but requires redecoration and maintenance to warrant the price and star rating of hotel that it holds now.
