Asking the taxi driver where he suggested for a quick but good lunch, he pointed to Petit Bistro facing the cab rank. He was not wrong. The place was packed at 13.00 but we got a small table. It is cramped and not to be suggested for lunches with private conversations! It took time to place an order but, after explaining we were in a hurry, the waiter brought us glasses of merlot, and bowls of juicy moules marinieres. I eat these a lot in South of France and these were delicious. Inc 3 glasses of wine and service, bill was £33. Good value for money

Been twice over past 12 months. Food first time was very good - simple, honest, tasty, bistro food, nothing too fancy. Slow service.
This time too much smears or dollops of this and that on plate, seemingly at the cost of the food itself - tasteless and overdone mushroom pastry envelope, overdone dry lamb lasagne. Other 2 mains were good though. Service terribly slow on a half busy lunchtime. Sat down at 1pm booking, eventually left 3.20 after just 2 courses. We didn't bother with dessert or coffee as we would still have been there at 5!
And what's with the daft flat caps?

The reviews are right. The food here is fantastic and great value, but they need to employ more people because the service is TERRIBLE. I actually had to go out and move my car so we could finish dessert without getting a parking ticket.

Go if you have about ten hours to spend on lunch or dinner.

Just had a splendid meal in this restaurant from their Tennerfest menu. Unlike some places we were not given a sub-standard menu because of the Tennerfest event - the food was fantastic - the slow -cooked beef cromesquie was delicious and the deep fried brie on a marmalade tarte tatin was superb. The service was good too - very friendly and helpful and the desserts were delicious - we will go again.
