“Perfect for relaxation”

We booked a package 3-night weekend with Island Getaways and really enjoyed our stay. Luckily, our deal included a small car, for the walk into town was about a mile and a half. Our recently-refurbished room was clean, light, spacious and quiet, with French windows opening onto the garden with lake at the rear. This large 'resort' hotel, obviously can cope with everything. It has several restaurants and a wonderful spa which includes a 25 metre heated swimming pool. Various treatments are available. We found the selection of food excellent and the staff professional and most obliging. It was hard to believe that this hotel was opened as recently as 1984 as it definitely has the atmosphere, solidity and quality normally associated with traditional 'railway hotels' of anything up to a century earlier. A real gem with terrific value.

Room Tip: Wonderful view of the gardens and lake at the rear. Ask for a quiet location as this hotel has many...

I stayed at the Hotel last week on a business trip to Guernsey having grown up there and was actually on the Island for the opening of the hotel back in 1983. The Hotel and Staff were top rate. The bedroom was clean, spacious, well appointed, with a comfortable bed and view over the lake. Extremely pleased with the rate I was charged which came in considerably cheaper than a number of other 4/5 star hotels locally. I shall be returning soon.

We stayed in room 423. We were right next to a main road and the flimsy patio doors did little to keep the traffic noise out or the heat in. Because the main road is on a hill the traffic was especially noisy, all through the day and night. It was also quite cold in our room as there was one tiny radiator for the whole family sized room. Therefore, I did not sleep well at all. The hot water took about 4 minutes to come through and when I queried this with reception they told me it was because we were the opposite side of the hotel to the water tank. Despite the above the hotel grounds are very pleasant with a lake and water fountain at the rear. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean. The breakfast was superb. I would go back but would ask to stay in a room away from the road.

Nothing special about this hotel. Our week was spoiled by noise from other guests including an unruly boys rugby team . If you are vegetarian don't go half board as the restaurant menu doesn't change from day to day, the portions are too large and there is limited choice. The desserts are mainly sorbet or ice cream.
The staff we met were all pleasant and helpful and were aware of the problems of noisy nights and boring food. Perhaps the management should listen?

Room Tip: Can't help with this as we had a deluxe room but we could have been in a travel lodge, with bang...

We spent four nights at this hotel over Easter and must say that it deserves its 4 stars. We booked our holiday with ‘Island Getaways’ which included a car from the airport – a good decision as it was quite a walk into St Peter Port from the hotel. We were allocated a room at the back of the hotel where you could hear the noise from the road, so we upgraded for £10 a night to a ‘quiet’, delightful south facing room overlooking park land. The room was well appointed with a large extremely comfortable bed and a selection of pillows. The bathroom looked to be recently renovated – clean, modern and with plenty of space for toiletries. There was also a good selection of teas and coffee, with a tea pot which was a nice touch. Strangely, for a four star, there was no safe for valuables in the room but we were able to use a safety deposit box at the reception. Breakfast and service were excellent. We didn't dine at the hotel (there are some excellent hotels on the island) or use the spa so I am unable to comment on these facilities.
The one BIG downside to the hotel that guest need to be aware of is that St Pierre Park Hotel is one of the most popular hotels on the island as a venue for large events like weddings and diner dances. On the day we arrived, and were upgraded to a ‘quiet’ room, we received a letter from the management informing us of a Dinner Dance taking place on the following night. I quote, ‘Music will be playing in this event and it is possible that noise may carry to the bedrooms within certain areas of the hotel.’ The music was so loud that you could hear every word that the group were singing and we weren't even above the function room. This continued until 00.45am and then sleep was interrupted again 20 minutes later as guests returned to their rooms. I informed reception the next morning that I had no intention of paying the £10 surcharge for that night – this was not disputed. Looking back through TripAdvisor there are periodically comments about this noise, which I had missed when I consulted TripAdvisor before booking.
I can understand why it is such a popular venue for functions but it is also unacceptable to subject guests to such noise. I would definitely recommend this hotel but advise that you check that there are no evening functions booked during your stay.
I would have given this hotel maximum rating if it hadn't been for the noise!

Room Tip: Check there are no evening functions before you book. The better rooms are unfortunately closer to...

Hmmm a difficult review this. I have been visiting guernsey since i was a child and regularly had sunday lunch at the hotel but never stayed. I always thought it fairly posh, however my view on this has been tainted by my experience this trip.
At check in i was issued a twin room, when a double room was requested i was told there weren't any others available. My colleague with no preference on beds kindly swapped and off we went hoping for a good nights sleep ready for work the next morning.
We were advised at check in and via letters under our doors that there was a function on that night due to finish at 01:15 and apologising for any inconvenience. I have NEVER had such a problem with loud music in a hotel before!! This is from someone who stays at A LOT of conference hotels.
A call to the manager at midnight and an apology it will be sorted response. 10 mins later with no decrease in volume (the mirror on my wall was shaking and the tea cups were rattling on the tray) I called again with another platitude that the manager will call me in a minute. He eventually called and offered me another room for the night at the other end of the hotel (strange earlier i was told no other rooms were available!). A midnight room swap to a suite later and i settled down to try and sleep. Unfortunately regardless of how quiet this room now was i wasn't able to get back to a deep sleep.
Breakfast the next morning was a plentiful bounty and should suit all appetites.
Overall i have a very negative view of the hotel due to this appaling allocation of rooms (when i told my company about the problems the response was - oh no not again this seems to happen every weekend!) I am however spending most of April in this hotel. I will review accordingly in the hopes that they will change their room allocation accordingly!

Room Tip: Check if a function is on and if so demand a room at the other end of the hotel (right hand side as...

a 20 minute walk from the St Peters Port, this hotel is in nice grounds, gives a relaxing atmosphere and a good standard of accommodation. The lobby may seem a little dated, but the rooms are clean comfortable and of a good four star standard.
The leisure facilities of gym and indoor pool are exceptionally clean, well serviced and free to guests. The rooms and bathroom are likewise spotless and well serviced.
The restaruant and bar are no more expensive than you will find in town yet are much cleaner and quieter !
Final tip for visitors, don't bother with a hire car. the roads are hell on earth, jamed with traffic, use the busses or walk; the latter is often quicker if headed into St Peters Port, from where you can get a bus to any part of the island.

Room Tip: ask for a garden view.
