Had Christmas lunch in Library Bar, efficient staff, good food at a excellent price. Our usual lunch venues were all fully booked, and managed to squeeze into here and much surprised, very good, would certainly go again.

Checked out 'trip advisor' first to see what others had experienced, which seemed mixed.
Stayed at Moores Hotel from Friday to Monday, ALL the staff from the person on the front desk to the cleaning staff where always very polite and most helpful. The room was comfortable with TV, coffee and tea facilities, fridge, lovely bathroom with everything you require, with towels and coffee, milk and tea replaced every day. Sunday Carvery in the Library bar was fantastic (noticed a lot of locals go for Sunday Lunch). Thank you Moores for a fantastic weekend!!

Just returned from 3 nights at this lovely hotel in perfect location. Over the years, I have probably stayed here some 7 or 8 times, though I only go over to Guernsey every few years. I recommend paying a little extra for a suite, but overall this hotel is really good value. Ignore the other silly remarks about decor and out of date rooms, and accept that is only a 3 star hotel - 3 going 4 in my opinion. As for parking, there is a 10 Hour car park by the Harbour, only a short walk away, and a pass for an extra hour and a half in the mornings is available from reception. Food in the Library Bar is excellent, as is the kitchen staff. Breakfast is also good. The only negative / warning I have, is to beware of the Italian lady who serves in the Rendezvous Bar - £2.40 for a pint of blackcurrant, made with tap water!! and she seemed proud of it. Other than this, drinks are reasonably priced, as is the food.

small but it was really conformtable. the room was nicely furnished and there was a nice television. the view over the patio was nice for the centre of towna dn one of our favourite restaurants in Guernsey was across the road from the hotel Christies. The bathroom was not as nice as the bedroom itself but was still usable (except the only problem was when you flushed the toilet it was really noisy for 2 minutes, not very useful in the night) all of three eateries were great and the hotel throughout was clean and well maintained

Room Tip: higher floors and try to get the back rooms as they are the ones that are best decorated and less no...

Used to visit Guernsey on business every week in the late 1970's and wanted to stay here as it's right in the High Street and I was not bothering with a car for the weekend.

I asked for a quiet rear room after advice from reviews on Tripadvisor. I was allocated room 308 which was a large double bedroom which contained two easy chairs, a round table and the usual unit for writing on. There was a 24" TV with Freeview but no Sky News. Wi-Fi was free throughout the hotel and there were many electrical points for recharging items. The room was very quiet and looked out onto a rear wall some 20' away with overgrown ivy.

The room was very light in view of the overhead lights, so missing in many hotels. There was a trouser press and hairdryer. The usual tea/coffee maker had the largest amount of tea bags/ coffee sachets/sugar sachets I have ever seen.

I booked bed and breakfast but had two evening meals in the Conservatory which was silver service and the menu was their Tennerfest (look it up on Google) which was a three course meal for £15. The other evening meal was a carvery in the Library Bar. All three meals were excellent and the service was very good.

The reception staff were brilliant printing off an airline boarding card, phoning for taxis and providing first class advice.

I would book again if I travelled without a car. If I had a car I would book elsewhere as there are no parking facilities at the hotel. As indicated earlier, book a rear room, there is no view from the front apart from the high street.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room at the back

I picked this hotel because it was close to the center of St. Peter Port. That was a good choice. Despite the lovely, clean room and good food, however, the noise was a challenge. There are two close-by nightclubs that make it difficult to sleep until after 2 a.m. Also, my room was right next to the maids' storage cupboard and their banging around in the early morning didn't help my sleep much.

Speaking of food! I had a 1/2 lobster thermador the first night there. Yum! I appreciated the large desk area and electric outlets too. I would stay here again, but would request a room in a different location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing away from the street or town.

Moore's has a fabulous location being right in the heart of St Peter Port and a short walking distance from several lovely restaurants, free car parks and the Herm ferry. The staff are friendly and eager to please but the hotel is let down by seriously dated decor in the rooms (Fawlty Towers has nothing on the shelf with the white plastic kettle, and iron and kettle both stuck on the wall). The bathroom looked freshly refurbed so maybe they're getting round to the rooms? Not soon enough!

If you must stay here .. or even if you don't, check out the lovely terrace café with fresh crab sandwiches and home made cakes.

Dear Becky1970

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I am glad to hear that our staff looked after you well, and you very much enjoyed your meal and cakes on the terrace of our hideaway brasserie. I note your comments concerning the room you occupied and can assure you we have a rolling programme of improvements and refurbishments for our bedrooms and we have already started this winter's programme. I hope you will return on a future occasion when we wil do our best to surpass your expectations.
