“Excellent service from reception staff really made my stay wonderful”
Reviewed 15 April 2009

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights per week for 3 months from Jan09 to Apr09 and I am very glad I stayed here rather than other hotels in Guernsey because (1) the very central location is unbeatable for convenience, (2) the reception staff were always very welcoming, addressing me such as "Good evening Mr XXXX", and could not have been more helpful to accommodate any requests and to extend the same welcome to my wife and child when they came to stay with me, (3) good clean bed linen and towels, (4) good breakfast selection including a cold food buffet and hot food cooked to order (much better than left on a buffet) and (5) free wi-fi.

This hotel is great if you are looking for a very central location. Ideal for shopping and Night life. Infact the noise from the nightlife is wonderful!!! I reserved a superior room...at extra cost..
Good points
* Very Clean sheets and Towels
* Great Breakfasts
Bad Points in room
* Broken glass found on bathroom floor* Coffee stains down the wall * Stained carpets
* Very noisy * Cracked ceiling* Bathroom extractor Fan spits out back gunk ( all over tooth brush...yuck)
While there maintance work was going ahead in restaurant. Shared breakfast with workmen and the smell of paint. Jacuzzi has algae growing in it and really slimmy around the water line.
If I could have got a boat home sooner I would have!!

* Broken Aerial in room ( I fixed it free of charge)

Having always thought of Moores as a businessman's hotel I was really surprised at the lovely weekend we had. My husband and I were given a nights stay as a gift I was pleasantly surprised at this bustling town hotel and how well the staff looked after us. There is no car park on site but this is not a problem. Bus stops are only minutes away and there is a very big free car park close by. The room was lovely and had everything we needed - we could see the sea! The dinner was superb and the staff so attentative and kind. They are building a new restaurant at the moment and we will absolutely go back to try out their new menu. I would recommend Moores to locals and visitors alike.

Avoid room 301 - we asked to be moved as we could not sleep due to the noise of the air conditioning fans near the room window. Staff were very helpful when contacted on the matter.
We stayed for 7 nights on a B&B basis. The hotel is very central and somewhat old style with senior clientele.
Breakfasts were good.
The spa area was nice and clean.
Staff were very friendly.

I am a Guernsey girl returning for a short break to visit friends. My husband and I stayed for three days in November 2007. Firstly the location is fabulous because of the central position. Everything is within walking distancek - great. But.... I feel that the hotel is sitting on its lorels because of this location. It is very much used for business because of its proximity to all international banks etc.. and because of this is undoubtedly booked. If this was not the case this hotel would have to improve markedly. For the price you pay the rooms are totally unnacceptable. They are stuck in the 1970's, and have clearly not been updated. Our room was very chabby, tired and quite dirty. They have paper thin walls, and you can hear noise above, below and in the corridors which kept us awake. I did not mind the street view and I expected it, and St Peter is very charming and not offensive to look at. You cannot complain about evening bar noise as being central you have to accept this compromise. The staff were friendly and efficient, the food was acceptable and served in a lovely light, airly conservatory on the top floor. However, we have recently paid less money for central city hotels in the UK which are trendly, clean, light and totally modern and sound proofed, which to be frank puts Moores to shame. I would only use this hotel again, if I was desperate to be central, and would seriously look at other alternatives in the future. A great shame that money has not been reinvested to get this hotel into the 21st Century - if the financial institutions in Guernsey close, then Moores will also find it has no business. What it needs is a super modern hotel to open next door to give it some competition!

Smoking is still permitted in the hotel rooms and even though I booked a non-smoking room, the room stank of stale cigarettes. There was no toilet paper and the TV reception was fuzzy. The curtains didn't fit the windows properly and my room overlooked a shopping street with fats/offices above so I had to hide to get dressed!

The restaurant was awful - roast duck which had clearly been cooked earlier in the day and warmed up the microwave, frozen potatoe croquettes and carrots which had been chopped with a serrated knife?

Overall, a complete let down.
