We had a great stay in the self catering apartments which are part of the hotel in the hotel grounds. The apartment was very well equipped & well proportioned. The cleanliness of the apartment was a key feature. A small balcony faced west and over looked the gardens, play area and pool. The pool was an enormous hit with the children, again very clean although a little work is over due on the patio area around the pool. Towels and bedding were changed by the maids half way through the week. Cleaners were available every day if requested.

The location of the hotel and apartments is excellent just 15 mins walk down hill to the centre of St. Peter Port. There is a Waitrose supermarket within 5 mins drive so very easy to self cater. Also there is a corner shop 2 mins walk way which stocked everything you could want. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Overall all an excellent stay.

Room Tip: Flat 7 on the first floor in the self catering block has a view towards the pool and away from the...

Arrived at the hotel at 10pm and night and checked in with colleague. The receptionist mixed up our rooms but this wasn't really a problem. Room was large and clean. Shower was really awkward with a curved arch in it and a window with only a net curtain so that anyone outside could clearly see me showering! The telephone message light was flashing so I checked with reception and you have to deactivate the message feature before it stops... and that is just silly! Breakfast was ok with a good choice of hot and cold food... but a cooked breakfast took over 15 minutes to arrive...and there were only 8 people in the restaurant at the time. On checking out, the hotel advised me that they didn't take Amex. Nothing really wrong with the hotel but lots of "little" things that made the stay not a good one.

Thank you very much for your review which of course is very disappointing to us,as we feel it may be that you got off to an unfortunate start when first, one of your colleagues was a "no show" and we had to ask what had happened to him. Furthermore, with regard to the mix up of your bedroom with your colleague, I understand from my receptionist that she actually pointed this out to you, before you went to your bedrooms, so you could both have resolved the matter, if you'd wanted to. With the regard to the bathroom, it has, what some would say, is a rather pleasant corner bath with a large shower incorporated over it. The window to which you refer has heavily frosted glass in it and most definitely, no one can see through it. The telephone system is an Alcatel Advanced Reflexes Sytem, which the manufacturer has sold in millions all over the world. The system merely requires that the guest initialises the voicemail system, so messages can be individually left automatically on your voicemail, if you happen to be away from your bedroom when a call comes in for you. This is a service we provide at no charge and it is most often appreciated by guests. With reference to Amex, I am very sorry to say that we do not accept this card, nor do we advertise that we do. The majority of hotels I am aware of, do not take Amex either and the reason for this is because it is so expensive for a merchant, as we are called, to service Amex. Extra, additional costs would have to be passed on to the client and as such we try very hard to avoid additional, unnecessary charges for our guests. As we prefer not to offer a cooked breakfast buffet, we prepare all the meals freshly to order and would agree this takes a little more time than an "all you can eat style" breakfast buffet, which is sadly rather commonplace in today's world. I would repeat, on behalf of Anna who checked you in and all of the staff at La Collinette, we are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay and would ask that perhaps, the next time you come to Guernsey, whether you are travelling alone or with your partner, you give us the opportunity to be of service to you again. We will provide you with excellent accommodation and also, ensure that you receive extremely good value for money for your stay. If there is anything further we can do, please just contact us and let us know as we really do want you to have pleasant memories of La Collinette Hotel.

One night's bed and breakfast after arriving late, so I can only comment on the accommodation and breakfast, both of which were excellent. The doors to the rooms however made a bit of a din when opening and closing the mortice locks, but otherwise pretty good on the whole.

Thank you very much for your review. We are trying very hard to make sure we meet the trials and tribulations of the current economic environment with a smile and a determination to continue to give our guests the best. We are in the middle of an extensive redevelopment program with upgraded bedrooms, 32" TVs and new mattresses and pillows. Thank you for your comments about breakfast.....in our view it's probably the most important meal of the day and we are very pleased to hear you enjoyed it. Reviews like your make our efforts worthwhile....Thank you very much.

Wanted somewhere with easy access to St Peter Port and the harbour for boat trips etc. and this proved to be an excellent choice, set in a quiet area on top of a hill. You do need to be reasonably fit for the 15 minute uphill walk back to the hotel, but there's a lovely view from Candie Park along the way.

There are rooms in the main building as well as separate apartments surrounding the outdoor pool area. Stayed in the main building. Room was clean and comfortable though not huge and perhaps not quite as luxurious as portrayed in some of the promotional material. Also a little on the warm side as there's no air conditioning. Nevertheless a very comfortable stay. Staff were always very welcoming and helpful and there is a good service ethic. Breakfast was also good. The free WiFi throughout the hotel is another plus point.

La Collinette has an interesting history as it was used during the wartime occupation of Guernsey as the HQ for the German naval signals division so the underground concrete bunkers can be seen around the site.

Highly recommended.

I find it difficult to add to the positive comments. Excellent friendly staff, clean and well appointed room, excellent food in the resturant. We were always greated in a friendly manner by the receptionists. Would certainly recommend and go back without hesitation. Well done.

After 4 hectic days in London we arrived in Guernsey needing some rest and recuperation. The Clubhouse@La Collinette was the right place. Everything about the hotel was warm and welcoming. We were planning to go into town for dinner but after stopping in the bar for a drink, we found everybody so friendly that we decided to have dinner there. It was a good choice. The room was very clean, the staff was friendly and the food was good. The service in the dining room was excellent and our waiter and waitress were exceptional. He had a good sense of humor and kept us laughing.
The only con I can think of is the location. Although close to town it is up a steep hill. However, I am 80 and was able to do It once. My advice for older people is walk down but take a cab back

Hi there Duke32412, thank you so much for your very kind review. I speak for ALL my staff when I say that reviews are very important to us and we very much appreciate hearing that our guests have been happy at the hotel. I'm really sorry about the geography of our beautiful island but as you say, it is a lovely walk down through Candie Gardens into town and the taxis are really cheap for a return trip with your shopping back to the hotel. Please tell your friends all about the hotel and our lovely islands. I noted that your stay in London was marred by poor accommodation so we are doubly pleased to have provided a "bit of peace" for you. At the moment we are upgrading all our bedrooms and installing new 32" televisions throughout. After that it will be new mattresses and as a result we hope to keep our guests even happier. Hopefully, we will have the chance to welcome you back to La Collinette again in the future. Thank you very much, Andrew Chambers.

At the end of October beginning of November, I had an apportunity to go to Guernsey and stay with my daughter at 'The Clubhouse @ La Collinette Hotel. The Junior suite was lovely, big and really comfortable and it also had a luxurious bathroom. The room overlooked the picturesque gardens. The room was cleaned every day and the high quality bath towels were changed too. The hotel was spotless. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and they always had a nice smile on their face. Breakfast was really good. This is a beautiful hotel which should be awarded 4 stars not just 3. Guernsey is a beautiful and charming island and so is this hotel.

Keep up the good work. Many thanks for everything.

Thank you very much for your kind reviews. I realise it is a long time since you wrote in but we have had a complete upgrade of our policy regarding media and the social culture which surrounds it.
Now, it is going to be our policy to be pro active with regard to reviews be they good or bad and we very much hope that as a result we can improve the way we run the hotel, the standards we provide and the overall quality of accommodation and services which we offer.
Since there has been comment made about the water pressure in the hotel and in particular the showers, we have installed super large headed, thermostatically controlled showers with automatic water pumps in each bedroom to ensure guests get a shower worthy of our reputation!
In addition, we have started a complete refurbishment program throughout the hotel accommodation bedrooms and bathrooms. The results so far have been very well received which is great news.
In addition, we have new menus and a lovely new lounge area in the bar with 3 super new TVs which provides a whole new feel to the bar, especially in the evenings. There is also a new menu in the restaurant which we hope will live up to our expect ions.
Finally, with summer coming on, we have a new "al fresco" decking area with big brollies, supe heaters, and lovely atmospheric lighting with will be superb for spring and summer nights.
To all of you who have enjoyed your stay at the hotel - Thank you! To those of you who haven't been so pleased, please accept our sincere apologies....no excuses.....but please give us another chance and book direct mention your review - its always less expensive that way!
Thank you.
