“Well worth a visit for the history”

My boyfriend and I decided to go have a look around the castle, as the weather was really good. As I got nearer to the castle I realised that this could be a really interesting place. Went into the shop to buy a ticket and because it was coming up to 4pm in the afternoon I only paid £1 which I thought was great. We went off to see the various rooms with all the information and sound effects enabling you to get a feel of what it was like in the history of the time. I love history, so I found it really interesting. Each day the castle has The Noon Day Gun which is fired when the castle is open. The castle is really for all ages, so well worth a visit. There is a tea room for refreshments, but did not get a chance to go in. I spent so much time in the rooms around the castle as there was so much to see. The gardens are fabulous and well kept too. The row of guns I thought were really good and got a great photo of then all in a row. A great experience.

I spent five magical hours at Castle Cornet and could have easily stayed quite a bit longer.
The first experience was a guided tour of the castle trail to include 22 points of interest; this was informative and interesting and took you back to many periods in the history of the castle – not to be missed!

There are five museums to spend time in and you can easily spend 30mins or more in each, full sized displays of battle situations and controllable sound effects enable you try to ‘feel’ the terrifying atmosphere experienced by military personnel on the front line.

The Noon Day Gun is fired every day and is not to be missed, you might consider ear plugs! You are able to take photos alongside the soldier (dressed in full red uniform) who fires the gun – after the firing!!

We were treated to two separate performances in the castle courtyard depicting stories of true events from the past; they were both very well acted out in full period costumes. (Seating was provided for the audience)
The first was ‘Burnt at the stake’ and then a story of a woman disguised as a man who joined the navy-‘Lady Tar’ – excellent!

There is the castle refectory providing good food and drink in a very pleasant surrounding, and then the castle shop which is very well stocked.

The gardens were ‘manicured’ and all had an interesting background to interest you.

The price of entry was £8.00 and well worth it as you can easily spend an entire day there.
Do not miss out on this experience!

We took photos from outside early in the day and then returned at 4pm for the £1 each entry. The hour this allows you was plenty for us to have a look around and take more photos. Some interesting exhibits

This is a lot of visit and could take a while to get round 5 museums and gardens with an outside play going on and also a separate exhibition. £10 was the fee and although that seemed steep at first the level of work that has gone into this place is amazing it is all laid out well and really informative. Cream tea in the tea shop could do with a look at and general lacklustre tearoom and staff all round but someone could look at that.

There is plenty to see and good vaue for money . The museums are excellent especially WWI making maximum use of a small space. The Guided tour at 10.30am was informative but guide had a tendency to talk about his life rather than the castle
