Stayed at the havelet for two nights, returning to London bank holiday Monday- we were sad to come back. The hotel is fantastic- wonderful staff who can't do enough for you lovely little pool and sauna etc which is so clean so that is fabulous - I can't stand little hair and bits in the leisure facilities a little gripe of mine! Dressing gowns and slippers provided - more four star than 3!! Well stocked bar only thing was for myself and my 24 year old partner was a bit quiet but we were going to relax anyway :) meal in the hotel gorgeous food stunning!!! they took a while with our meals but the manager apologised and we felt fine about it with such lovely views.

Breakfast gorgeous. We didn't want to leave and if we come back we will definitely stay here again - try for the superior room they are worth the extra money the beds are so comfortable :)

Thanks hotel de havelet , see you again

We recently stayed at the Hotel de Havelet for 4 nights. I don’t usually praise hotels, but it was one of the best stays I have ever had. The hotel is part of the Best Western group, but is family owned, and it shows.

Our arrival brought us into contact with probably the best feature of the hotel, its staff, about which more later. Check-in was smooth, and we opted to have morning papers supplied, as the hotel is not within easy walking distance of any shops. It should be remembered also that papers tend to arrive latish in the morning as they have to get from mainland UK and then be distributed across the island.

Due to the fact that the hotel is on a sloping site, our room was on the same level as the ground floor reception, but was actually on the first floor, at the rear, and totally quiet.
The bedroom was large, and well appointed, with good Wi-Fi (free), a decent sized TV, tea making facilities, trouser press and ironing board, and a safe. The bed was large, with feather pillows available on request. The bathroom was well fitted-out, with bath and shower. Perhaps the only niggle I had was that the soap was in a dispenser on the wall rather than in tablets. Free slippers and dressing gowns are supplied, which are useful for nipping down to the swimming pool.

One the floor below the rooms is a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, all free for residents to use. Other rooms in the main building include a residents’ lounge with armchairs and a free-to-use computer.

We opted to eat at the hotel on the first night. The dining rooms and bar are across the courtyard in a separate block. In case of bad weather, access can also be gained via a short tunnel from reception. Meals may be had in the bar itself, in the adjacent Havelet Grill, or in the Wellington Boot restaurant on the first floor. Both the grill and the restaurant have magnificent views across the harbour and castle to the sea. The meal we had was excellent, and I have reviewed the Wellington Boot as a separate item. There is a seasonal menu giving three courses plus a half bottle of wine for £23.50, which we found to be very good value, so good in fact that we ate there again a couple of nights later. Breakfasts are taken in the dining room and this is also a very good spread. After the usual buffet of fruit and juices, there is a wide range of cooked breakfasts.

At all meals the staff could not be better. Drawn from various corners of Europe they gave the perfect blend of helpfulness without being intrusive, whether discussing menu items or interacting with children. They are run by assistant manager Sandis Zele. He was ever present and within a couple of days it was as though we had known him for years.

The bar is a ‘proper’ well stocked affair, with a couple of local real ales, and is in fact used as their pub by some locals. Unusually for the UK, but normal in Guernsey, the bar stays open until 12.30 am every night.

This was our first visit to Guernsey, and if we return we will certainly make a point of staying at De Havelet. Several guests come year after year, and it is clear to see why. Sandis and his team could not make you feel more welcome and relaxed.

Room Tip: There is so little external traffic, that all rooms are very quiet.

We have just returned from a three night break at this lovely hotel and we are already looking forward to a return trip!! The hotel is set in a lovely position looking over the marina and Castle Cornet - the view from the Wellington Boot Restaurant is beautiful. Our room (35) was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and very nicely furnished. The food in the restaurant was excellent at both breakfast and dinner, with a good choice offered and very well presented. The staff at this hotel all deserve praise, without exception they were friendly, very helpful and made us feel extremely welcome at the hotel. We also enjoyed the leisure facilities - making use of the pool and jacuzzi, the pool area is pleasantly warm and very nicely appointed. It was warm enough to sit outside on the terrace before we left on Sunday afternoon, it was lovely and peaceful - this is a quiet and relaxing hotel, just the place to recharge your batteries! All in all this was a great stay at a special hotel and we look forward to returning again in the near future.

We have just returned from a "great" short break in Guernsey staying at this hotel. We arrived at 8am and were able to check in and leave our bags at the hotel while we explored St Peter Port on foot although our room wasn't ready until 1pm as stated. The reception staff pointed out the "complimentary tour of the island" trip which we booked ourselves onto. This was a great way to find your bearings around the island and decide where you might want to visit again. On returning to our room later, we found it to be at the back of the hotel, very clean, comfy large bed and well stocked coffee/tea making facilities. It was also lovely and quiet and also dark at night, very good nights' sleep. There were no disturbances from people in neighbouring rooms either. We had booked on a dinner/bed and breakfast basis and the food was "out of this world". Plenty of choice, very well cooked and nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff. You must try "Mohammed's special" if you get a chance! Mustn't forget the swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. At the end of a day's sightseeing, this made the perfect finale. Just a note about the location, this hotel is at the top of a very steep hill but well worth the climb for the views and hospitality.

Thank you to all the staff and management for making our stay such a pleasurable one. We will definitely be returning to Guernsey and to this hotel. Well done Gennaro and Sandie.

Although a very short return visit we so enjoyed our stay. A lot of refurbishment has obviously been undertaken since our last visit and our room was exceptional.and every detail thought of to make a stay a memorable one. We invited friends to join us for dinner which was excellent as always. All the staff were very professional yet at the same time very welcoming and friendly. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Guernsey. .

We had a short week break in Guernsey staying at the De Havelet Hotel. On arrival the staff were most helpful settling us into our accommodation and in fact throughout the rest of our stay. A very professional service which they all should be proud of. The room was great as were the facilities especially the pool sauna and steam room which was very welcoming after a days walking. The views from the dining room at breakfast was breathtaking. A fantastic place which I would highly recommend and will definitely stay again.

Excellent hotel, great location and ample parking. Staff were professional and friendly, although hotel should have mentioned the major building works being undertaken. It wasn't too much of a problem but could have been if the weather meant that we stayed in the hotel. The bar and the restaurant served excellent fare and once again the staff were fantastic. One thing to bear in mind and that is the island doesn't really wake up till April 1st so don't bank on visiting any of the sights before then. We would definitely stay here again.
