“A Wonderful Hotel and Staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 February 2011

I found this Hotel on Trip Advisor and was so pleased to find a gem of a hotel. Everyone was so attentive, and a special congratulation to Gennaro who made this visit so memorable.
My only complaint, being that lobster was not available on a particular night, but that was probably my error in not pre-ordering it.
I will return in the the near future with my wife and daughter, and rejoin friends met in the bar who are "The Old Gits" Great company.
I wish you all the success in the World during these difficult financial times.
Stanley " Alan" Franz Keysell.

On arriving at the De Havelet my wife and I immediately felt welcome. From the receptionist's friendly "check-in" to the bar staff's prompt and efficient service. Our room was twice the size of some that we've paid more for, and was fitted out very well and with quality obviously in mind. Each day, on getting back, our room had been very thoroughly serviced - good to see that all of the staff aim to please. Buffet breakfast was comprehensive (we didn't go for cooked - but they looked good) and started the day off ideally. My legs feel much fitter from walking up and down the hill to town (though a complimentary minibus service is available!) - but the hotel benefits from a more secludede spot than Moores in town (where we have stayed several times before). A very enjoyable stay - hope to return!

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the De Havelet hotel, and were sorry to leave.
The superior room offered plenty of space, easy access to the magnificent pool, and the beds were sipremely comfortable. We dined in both the Grill restaurant, and in the Wellington Boot, and found the tabled'hote menu proffered a good choice of high quality food.
There is a friendly ambience in the Saddle Bar, and in all restaurants the staff were exceedingly helpful and nothing was toomuch trouble.

Nothing is too much trouble at this hotel. the staff are extremely helpful. The hotel has a beautiful swimming pool sauna, steam room, and spa. Bedrooms are a little dated and could do with an update, including the TV's that are a good size LCD but still showing analogue broadcasts. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice hot and cold. Restuarant food was OK but we found better locally and especially as it was the start of Tennerfest. Shame the weather was not so good or we could have used the excellent patio area for a drink or two. Will stay again.

We stayed at the Best Western Hotel De Havelet at the end of August, during what turned out to be a UK Bank Holiday Weekend. Arriving late (9:30) we were checked into a clean, but dark room with very dated bath. A request that night to change was put off with a "we're full." The dining staff however was exceptionally gracious and made sure we got a late dinner. Breakfasts next morning and after extraordinary, (staff and food) and a different very helpful staff person found us a cheerier room with a garden view (the other looked on the parking lot/back of restaurant). The bed and bedding were very nice and comfortable. Havelet's room's have flat screens and frig and our second room had an updated bath. The basic case goods were a little tired, and suggest time for replacement. The wifi was very weak. The enclosed pool and hot tub were modern and enjoyable after a long day's walk.

The hotel is as others have noted up a steep hill -- we didn't find it a problem and enjoyed the excercise. There is a great view of the castle and bay from the dining room. We liked that we could easily walk to town -- with shops, ferries to Herm and Sark, bus etc. -- but be in a quieter location. Havelet is a little old-fashioned -- but in a good way, where staff service and attention were clearly extremely important. We'd recommend it without hesitation

Warn friendly family run hotel where guests are treated well and, given the opportunity, staff will go the extra mile to help.
Rooms are a little dated, but still way above the average. Spotless throughout.
Good selection of eating options (Al a carte, bar, std restaurant or room.) popular with locals.
Seem to retain staff year after year.
Situated in secluded , well maintained grounds..
Just a couple of negatives; 1. Situated on a Very steep hill. 2; Some staff have limited English, which can make ordering interesting, but they do try hard to please.
