Whereas most other companies will only sail when the sea is more or less smooth, Bumblebee took us from Guernsey to Alderney on quite a rough day (about 6/7 bft). A most enjoyable trip with a brand new boat.
Together with another couple, my friend and I sat outside and got wet. Fortunately we surfed the large waves so it wasn't too hard on the stomach.
Once in a while our well being was checked by the skipper's mate (his father?) who sat with us getting even wetter. A very humorous and relaxed man.

Checkin procedure is very smooth on their website, departures are timely and prices are reasonable.

We have taken previous boat trips on our visits to Guernsey, but Bumblebee was one of the more memorable ones. Our family took up the entire boat (so a charter), there were 11 of us - however the boats are not too big which makes it a little more intimate. There is an outdoor seating area, and an indoor one for when the boat picks up speed and the splashes may get you a little wet!
Robin and Dan were excellent guides to have on our trip, it lasted about 90 minutes around the coast of Guernsey. The commentary was very interesting, and informative. We were advised where one of the writers for the Harry Potter movies got their inspiration, plus other fun facts.
So would we recommend this trip around part of the beautiful island of Guernsey? Absolutely no doubts!
Pick a nice day and we doubt you will be disappointed!

I have just got back from the Bumblebee Puffin Patrol boat trip. This trip took us around the islands of Jetu and Herm which are off the main island of Guernsey. Bumblebee boat cruises started up this season and this was my first trip with them. I have to say what an excellent trip this was. The crew were very friendly and whilst on the cruises Robin gave us information about the islands and the birds we would see. There was also a professionally prepared booklet that you could look up birds you saw or expected to see.

The trip from Guernsey to Jetu was exhilarating as we took off across the sea. You could either sit outside with the wind in your hair or inside with good views and watch the skipper at work. The group of passengers is not big so you always get a great view.

We saw so many sea birds, but I don't want to give away where and spoil anyone else's surprises. As for the Puffins, I have never seen so many. Some bopping on the sea close to the boat, others on the cliff face and we even had a flyby by one particular cheeky chap. Our trip was for an hour and a half, but because we kept spotting more and more birds we were out longer, added bonus!

I will definitely go on another Bumblebee boat trip. in fact I'm look forward to it. Good luck to them for the future.
