Arrived on a Friday evening around 6 and the courtyard was full of noisy yuppies drinkinf wine and champagne after a 'hard week'. Reception was OK but rather off-hand, giving vague direcxtions as to the location of the room - no offer of assitance so carried twoa suitcases through a maze of stairways and corridors to find our room located directly above the pub. Noise and smoke from the friday revellers continued till quite late. En-suite was tiny. Food choice at the restaurant and bar was 'average' and rather un-inspiring so we ate out.. Early breakfast was Weetabix, yoghurt and an apple. Our alarm call was late - fortunately we had already woken. I'm sure there must be better value, less pretentious establishments!

Friendly staff, great location in the heart of St Peter Port - 5 minutes to the Waterfront on foot, 3 minutes from shops and restaurants. Easy wifi, good breakfast and good outdoor seating. Rooms are small but adequate and the pub should serve Guernsey ale but apart from that could not fault it.

Very pleasant four day stay over Easter. I must agree with much already posted. Firstly getting to the car park is a nightmare, we ended up in the pedestrianised main street much to the annoyance of the locals. Might be an idea to have instructions on the website? We paid extra for an executive room, and again it was well worth the extra, couldn’t fault it in any way. Very friendly staff, everywhere, especially at breakfast, which incidentally we found gave plenty of choice and was freshly cooked. We didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening, despite some lobbying from the restaurant manager; there were just too many interesting places in the town to try. The only disappointment is the bar. Very much aimed at the locals I suspect, with huge video screens, loud music and no real ale. If this is a commercial necessity, then a residents’ bar (or section of the main bar) is needed.
First visit to Guernsey, and I was most impressed both with the island and St Peter Port. The town is a lovely mix of Regency and Victorian styles and the inevitable modern financial buildings have been incorporated subtly. The interior of the island is charming (the lack of signs idiosyncratic) and well looks after the tourist. Almost every coastal layby has its own ‘kiosk’ selling freshly made refreshments. We left the car at the hotel a couple of days. A half day trip on the ‘fast ferry’ to St Helier, Jersey, a disappointing town, spoilt by chain shops and tower block offices/apartments. Another day we went to Herm, intending to stay a couple of hours, but actually staying all day and walking round the whole island. A great day, but fine weather only!

Staued at the Duke for 3 nights. This was my first visit to Guernsey.
The hotel was faultless and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Only word of warning is just how difficult it is to locate the hotel car park. I went for the easy option by parking in the ample sea front car parks (free until 0800 hours) and then walked the route to the car park. Once you get your bearings, it is simple.

spent a few days here. Nothing was ever too much for all the members of staff I came into contact with. It was made an enjoyable and relaxing stay.
The rooms were clean and serviced each day.
The location is central and within walking distance of the High Street. One word of caution, there is a quite steep climb occasionally the last straw if you are all walked out!
I only ate once at the hotel but what I had was very tasty. The breakfasts are varied and all a good start to your day. Again served by an excellent friendly and kind waiter.

Stayed here for three nights Friday / Saturday / Sunday, Have stayed here on a few occasions when on business in Guernsey.
Short walk down hill to the town centre. Quite steep though.
Staff are very helpful and rooms are clean and to a very good standard. I don't know why it is rated as a two star hotel. However, we stayed in the executive rooms in the main building and are well worth the extra price.
Large LCD TV, this time it had a DVD player inbuilt other times there has been a PS2 attached to play games and DVD's. DVD's and games can be obtained from reception free of charge.
Room was clean with plenty of tea/coffee. Large bath/shower with good quality fittings. In other rooms the bath and shower are separate. One room we stayed in had a huge bath on a plinth in the main bedroom.
Waiting on the bed were some bathrobes and the towels were lovely and soft and fluffy.
Bar food is good and recommended. Whenever we have stayed the bar has been quiet. Breakfast is excellent with freshly prepared full English, poached eggs, fresh fruit coffee/tea and juices.
For its closeness to the town centre it is pretty quiet.
Oh, they also do a deal at the moment of three nights for two when staying Fri/Sat/Sun. You have to mention it at the time of booking to get it.
Recommended.

Booked this hotel as part of a well-priced deal through 3X travel. Took the car too. Good staff, room (off the courtyard) a bit worn, but well up to 2 star standard. Heating was working 24/7. Breakfasts big enough to make lunch an option. We ate in the bar most nights - good pub-style food and reasonable wine prices, but no real ale. Up the slope, but well within easy walking distance of the High Street and the real ale pubs along the quayside. Access for a car is abit tight - dont take a big/long one. We felt it was a good choice for an off-season break, when being in the town was a distinct advantage - the weather was freezing most of the time.
