Just returned from this Hotel and found some of the previous reviews over the top in criticisium. Yes it does need a refurb and you get the impression that most of the energy goes into the Brasserie side of the business. No mention by anyone there of the Hotel being demolised this year as was previously stated. The reception is obviously not 24 hrs but someone always came quickly when the bell was pressed. The staff who were mostly Portugese were very helpful and friendly. The food was what you would expect and for a reasonably priced package deal was all told value for money. The Hotel is well placed to use as a base and the sunsets are memorable.
I would use the Hotel again.

Room Tip: Seaview is best

i am shocked at some of the reviews i have read of this hotel, for one its NOT being demolished in november as we have booked our holiday for next yr there, yes its not a 5 star hotel the rooms are dated etc.. but i believe its great value for money, myself and my family have been visiting the island and staying there for a couple of years, the staff are friendly and the food is brilliant with great portions, its a great comfortable stay. thank you and see you again next year!!

Room Tip: sea view rooms are a great bonus on a sunny morning

Just got back from staying at this hotel. We asked if possable for a sea view and got a fantastic sea view. The fixtures are dated but the room and hotel facilities are good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As previous comment, we cannot understand the negatives for this hotel as it is a budget hotel not a 5* with 5* prices. The sea view alone from our room was priceless and made our holiday. The food was ok and the evening 3 course meal available for residents for £12 was good value. There is also a good lounge and bar for relaxing and free wifi in the hotel. We hired a car but you can catch a bus from outside the hotel for £1 ( regardless of trip length) We would definately go back to this hotel and also recommend to friends and family if they ever have a trip to Guernsey.

Room Tip: we stayed in room 32 and it was top floor fantastic sea view ( no lift)

Thanks for a wonderful stay, my husband and 2 boys really enjoyed our stay, great value for money. Rooms could do with a bit of updating. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food in the brasserie was great, huge portions and again good value for money. Couldn't have asked for a better family hotel holiday. Thanks and would definitely recommend to others.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the hotel, it's quieter .

Cannot understand the negative reviews about this hotel the rooms are a little dated but the location and friendly atmosphere make up for that.
The staff are very helpful and obliging, the food is exultant for what you pay, after all if you want five star food you dont go to a budget hotel. The brasserie food was very varied and very affordable with lots of choice.
Hopefully we will be back in August when the weather is better to take advantage of the swimming pool and beach across the road.
We found that our stay here was just what the doctor ordered and at the right price.

This Hotel is due to be demolished in November and it shows! Everything is made to just survive until then. The shower tap on the bath had wire around it to use it but it made no difference as there was no bracket for the shower head to be fixed too, and now shower curtain. The 'Hot and cold vending machine' in each bedroom was in fact a kettle. The bathroom does not have any window and when the ceiling light failed the person we eventually got hold of said what sort of bulb is it as I will get you one for you to fit. I declined his offer as there was no way that I was going to balance on the side of the bath in darkness to dismantle a ceiling light fitting. The hair dryer, which is all tangled up with the kettle, is hard wired in and to make it safe in case it got water on it I turned it off at its switch. Don't do that as it also controls the unsafe looking light over the washbasin which is actually in the bedroom. The wardrobes were very old with the bottom plinth covers falling off, broken hinges, etc. You could not open the doors fully as they would hit the beds. Everything in the hotel was old but not in a nice retro way, just old and shabby. We could not speak Latvian so could not converse with any members of staff very easily, thats if you could find any. In the whole week that we were there we never spotted anybody at the main reception desk. At breakfast I would like to know where they got all the grey, covered in white foam, bacon from. Was it the same place they bought the identical sawdust tasting sausages from, or the rubber fried eggs? On a good note we did eat in the restaurant a couple of times and here the food was very good with good sized portions. It looks like the owner/chef only works evenings as there was always a crowd of locals in then. Also very noisy over the public bar until nearly midnight on some nights. I did not have high expectations as it was cheapish and only 2 star but I am afraid that it still did not reach that level. Not to be recommended.

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel.

This hotel could be excellent but needs serious updating - staff very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We had an excellent short break (3 nights), but we didn't spend any time in our room other than to sleep and have a bath. No shower (just hand held) and bedroom decor a throwback to the eighties - lary dark colours and chipboard wallpaper. BUT spotlessly clean and given new pillows and extra duvet when asked for them - the staff really work hard aound the clock. When we first arrived, I just wanted to turn around but we had paid up front and decided to make the most of it and to be fair we were glad we did. Lovely atmosphere, many walkers staying there, first time played scrabble in years! Guernsey Pearl within short walking distance and we walked to the next bays in the evenings - although be warned the pavements do alarmingly disappear - recommend you take a torch/wear something reflective if walking at night. Bar extremely well run and stocked - recommend the Portuguese white port! Lovely well maintained outdoor pool, which unfortunately for us, weather was not warm enough to use - but would be superb in the Summer months. Lovely Indian and Bistro-style restaurants next to the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies overlooking the pool/car park/beach were recommended by other guests.
