Stayed at L’Eree Bay for 3 nights in the first week of their 2013 season and, after some amusing moments whilst the key was being found, I was pleasantly surprised to find the room had a bath in the ensuite: There were double & single beds and a raised seating area by the window which looked directly out over the sea. The (free) Wi-Fi signal strength was very good. On the evening of our first night we both had Fillet Steaks (in the Brasserie) which were very nice; there was a slight mix up with the desserts as we’d asked for Rocky Horror cheesecake but got chocolate brownies; not wanting these we asked for Apple Crumble pie & ice cream (a combination not even on the menu) & my wife had Banoffee Cheesecake. The next evening I had Madras King Prawn curry & my wife had Pork & Stilton; both followed by Profiteroles: All the meals we had were excellent. The food here is very good and this was proven on the Friday evening as the Brasserie was packed so it’s advisable to book a table.

On our first night, the public bar (2 floors below our room), appeared to close early (normally open until 11:45pm) and it was very quiet outside all evening: I slept quite well on all three nights although on the second, there appeared to be some kind of function going on in the bar, with moderate noise lasting until midnight.

The breakfasts were quite acceptable and initially entirely waitress served: Although the cooked breakfast used tinned tomatoes these were very nutritious. On our last morning breakfast was self service (apart from the toast) from a hot buffet.

I appreciated the ensuite bath as we did a lot of walking (17 miles in 3 days!): Although you can get many books about walking in Guernsey, I used website www.guernseywalker.me.uk downloading quite a few maps & guides from this which I put on my tablet. L’Eree bay hotel is well positioned for west coast walking and, for those without a car, there is a bus stop directly outside.

All the staff were very friendly and courteous: In fact, the evening before we checked out, I was having trouble printing out flight boarding cards from the hotel's laptop & printer in the lounge & the chef (Mark Frost) kindly let us do this on his office machine.

Room Tip: Go for the top floor sea facing rooms as these have the best view and are further from the public ba...

having just stayed at this hotel, which we contacted prior to arrival we were able to speak direct with Mr,Frost who ran over our requirements, and felt we would have many problems. ONour arrival the reception was booking in a coach party and managed with great skill guests with mobility problems would have as No lift on site,IT SHOULD BE NOTED that Many of the smaller hotels DO NOT HAVE ONE, THESE WILL BE MAINLY FOUND ON THE Recently built EXPENSIVE ONES. BUT if you realy whant to get into why no lift look into the history of guest accomadation onGuernsey. It is not allways the owners fault,Anyeay in a nutshell a good place to use to look around island even at 25mph, is a great experience. Hotel is warm staff are friendly but you need to speak to them first as not English and are a little shy, IN GENERAL a bugget hotel good for a base food is great (put on 5lbs) over 8 daysPrice amount and selection choice according to islanders is well known as being one of the best, hotel is being decorated but not in mainland uk colours, met a few guest on return visits so cant be all that bad, We are looking to return next year, BUT will make our own booking to get things right.

Room Tip: Do not rely on travel agent to get it right Check hotel first.Lunch in the public bar great& fa...

just got back from staying at the le,eree bay hotel after a short 3 night break.20th to the23rd of oct 2012, and would like to say what a good hotel this is,ok it could do with a lick of paint, but apart from that the staff were friendly and helpfull ,and apart from what the other reviews say for somewhere to stay on a budget, this place was excellent for value.the food was first rate especially the tennerfest menu,we had the two courses for a tenner and was not dissapointed with the chicken parcel in sauce with veg witch was exellent .the room was cleaned every day with fresh towels, and the choice of beers was good, the public bar had a few locals in there who were friendly and easy to chat with and get along with.the location of the place is ok if you want a quite stay and dont mind walking as we did, but if not theres a bus stop right outside with the bus going all around the island for a 1 pound fare, who needs to be conned with the cdw charges from the car hire people,as we cancelled our car hire and used the busses instead if we went back to guernsey we would considder staying there again.

Room Tip: all rooms appear to be about the same as we had room 30, witch was over the bar looking out onto the...

All the comments in previous reviews are correct -it depends on your perspective!
We were there for our silver wedding anniversary and did wonder at times if we should have gone somewhere more luxurious; but the hotel is a good; non-pretentious; basic hotel
On our arrival, late afternoon, the reception was unmanned, giving an unfriendly feel -but I soon came across Marcia (from Madeira) who was exceedingly helpful and friendly throughout our stay and who is a brilliant asset to the hotel!
The rooms are comfortable; but yes, they're somewhat shabby and in need of refurbishment -we had loose tiles on the bathroom wall and the loo didn't always flush properly; but the room was spacious with a sitting area and a good view of the sea and sunsets!
The food was of excellent quality and attractively served and the evening meal is good value at £12 for 3 courses -but the menu is VERY ordinary and unadventrous -the choice of main course on our first night was scampi or gammon and pineapple! However, you can upgrade, by paying a supplement to the bratisserie menu which has some nice options (e.g. Guernsey scallops in thermidor sauce!) -or during Oct/Nov, the "Tennerfest" menu is more interesting.
Car hire (which has been mentioned in other reviews) is certainly a RIP-OFF -having already paid for hire plus insurance, we were charged an extra £52 to reduce the excess from a staggering £600 to zero and £25 for a small amount of fuel. Had we realised there was a bus stop just outside the hotel and a cheap, regular service, we might not have bothered hiring a car!
So overall, we had a good holiday in a pleasant; comfortable and friendly hotel; which is very good for a two-star hotel -but look elsewhere if you want luxury!

Room Tip: I think most rooms have sea view - we had room 16

This hotel is on the West Coast [not at St Peterport] and is great if you want a quiet holiday. It is not pretentious, so don't go if you are looking for four star accomodation. Our corner room [no. 9] is on 2nd floor with excellent views out to sea over the sandy beach [only feet away] and also around the bay from the side window. Owned by a chef, the food is excellent. Breakfast is buffet, with fresh fruit salad, cereals, juices & full english to help yourselves - plenty! Lunch at the Bistro restaurant with very good choice and daily specials. Evening meal is huge for £12: starter of that day's chef made soup [wonderful] or juice, main of meat, fish or omelette, swet of pudding, icecream or cheese & biscuits, plus coffee. Our bedroom was newly re-decorated, as were some areas of the hotel and the outside. Bed was comfortable. NB comments about the morning staff are mis-guided; Ina & Inita are shy and don't speak much English - they are Latvian! Smiles are universal, however and they are lovely ladies. Excellebt walks around the bay. NB Be warned - driving ACROSS Guernsey [rather than around the coast] is a nightmare because there are no village names displayed and the roads are VERY narrow.

Room Tip: Room 9 has views to side and front.

My wife and I stayed here 6 nights beginning 16th September. Double room adequate, clean with new towels each day. We booked B&B, but generally had the evening meal as well, which we thought good value at £12 pp. Very good food, generous quantity, speedy and efficiently served. Wonderful view over the sea and rocks from our bedroom, with good wicker chairs in an area that was almost a balcony. This was our tenth visit to Guernsey, but first stay in this hotel. Frequent good bus service (only £1 to anywhere on the island). Sometimes we went somewhere by bus then walked back to the hotel. Very good value hotel in which we had a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Top floor where we were was quiet (apart from neighbour's TV) with lovely view.

Stayed here for 4 nights. The evening meals were excellent, tasty & a reasonable price. The staff, however seemed overworked & we had a long wait on 2 occasions, it would have been good to have at least one more member of staff on duty. Breakfasts were ok but the 2 members of staff on duty were indifferent to the guests & a smile wuld have been nice!
The rooms were very tired, our ensuite had a bath but no shower & the decor was in urgent need of replacing. A good position, opposite a picturesque bay, I'm sure they would get more return guests if they refurbished the hotel & invested in more friendly staff.
