“Well worth the money”
Reviewed 9 August 2013

Have just stayed here for a week and couldn't have asked for a more friendly welcome. The staff were always polite, helpful and friendly (especially the giggly one). Breakfast was great .. Just enough to start your day, cereal, fruit juice, yoghurt/prunes and then toast and cooked breakfast or smoked haddock.

The location was ideal, very central and very near the town, bus terminal and port but I agree with other reviewers that not ideal if you are walking everywhere as the hill is a killer.

The rooms were slightly old fashioned but were always clean, comfortable and tidy. The ensuite was small but practical. Wifi was provided in the lounge but in this day and age would be great if it could extend to the rooms. We were in the room just off the lounge and the wifi stopped at the door.

Overall, a great hotel, great friendly staff, and would happily return in the future. Xx

I stayed in a single room for 6 nights. The room itself was adequate but everthing except the TV was old and rather tired(bed, carpet, decoration, sash windows, pine furniture) the bathroom looked as though it had been poorly refurbished several years ago, no air conditioning or fans in the room, so the windows need to be open in warm weather Everything was clean and usable. The room was at the front of the building. The Hotel is on a hill with no access at the back, It seems that all delivery vehicles use the front of the building ,some quite early in the morning, the refuse collectors came one morning at 4.55am.also other guests and staff gather at the front of the building to smoke and chat sometimes late at night. The food was very good, both breakfast and evening meal , the service was also very good . The bar and lounge areas were of a much better standard than my room. Others staying in the hotel had a similar opinion to myself for those that were in the main building at the front(one person said that they did not have a handbasin in the bathroom, but it was in the bedroom.) People staying in the rooms alongside the gardens said that the rooms were of a much better standard and fairly modern. Because of the hill it takes about 5 minutes to get down to the shops but a lot longer to get back up, Overall acceptable for a few days but i would not stay there again

Room Tip: Read the comments above and dont get a room at the front of the building

very old fashioned and needs a re-furb! we were in room 301, decent side view of harbour. Victorian style furniture and so so needs an upgrade of décor. tiny ensuite ...avocado green went out with napoleon!!....glad we were only there one night, but we had been spoilt by the farmhouse and the cobo bay....I will add that the Pandora is at least half the price of the others, so if you are wanting to save a few quid, try here.

Stayed for 7 nights went with a friend who had to return home early due to illness the staff were wonderful helping to get her to doctors and book her return flight. The room although small was clean and I had a lovely sea view. Some rooms would benefit from refurbishment as somewhat old fashioned but comfortable. It was very hot on third floor as in roof space but staff supplied fans which were ideal.. Airconditioning would have been great but this is only a 2 star hotel so can't expect it. The food was lovely and plentiful and waiting staff lovely and helpful. The garden was lovely with views of the port and castle. Would benefit from a swimming pool as after one of the lovely cliff walks on Guernsey a swim would have been lovely. Not good for those with walking difficulties as hill to hotel very steep and steps to garden also steep and there is no lift. Saying that I had no problems and staff dealt with luggage for you. In a wonderful position or bus terminal, town and boat trips. Hope to visit again and would highly recommend it. The lounge and bar are comfortable and pubs and bars nearby, if down the hill, should you want entertainment.

Stayed here for 7 nights as a base whilst walking the coast of Guernsey, Sark and Herm. We had requested a large room and we had a family room for 2 on the front. This was good for us. The room was clean and had everything to make it comfy. Breakfast had good choices but we just like continental. In the evening they do a 3 course meal option for just under £20 per person. We found this good value and ate here on 4 nights. The staff are charming and helpful. There is a good garden and a bar for those who want it. This hotel is good for the price and for its 2 stars.

Room Tip: Ask for a family room to get a larger room for 2

Haven't been for the Sunday lunch here for a couple of years, but this time, June 2013, it was REALLY good! The roast beef was beautiful and the other main courses just as good. A pleasant surprise was the accompanying veg, freshly cooked and tasty. Starters and desserts nice without been fussy.
As always, the staff and service excellent.
Well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Was only in for lunch, not a stay!

Spent 2 nights at this hotel which is about 10 mins walk from the centre of St Peter Port. The hotel was clean with a very relaxed feel. The restaurant was a lovely room looking out over the gardens which were very pretty with plenty of little places to sit. Breakfast was very good with an excellent choice of fruit juices, cereals and fresh whipped Guernsey yoghurt as well as a good choice of cooked dishes. We ate out in the town the first night but the second night chose to have dinner in the hotel and again the food was very good with a reasonably wide choice. Service was quick and efficient with all staff polite and friendly. I agree with other reviewers that the hotel would probably not suit some with mobility issues - steep walk back from town, steps up to the hotel and gardens on various levels. Parking is obviously at a premium in St Peter Port - at the Pandora there are some parking spaces in front of the hotel and a small car park at the rear but be warned the entrance approach to the rear car park is VERY narrow which can test your driving skills!
