Stayed here for a few days at the end of August. The plus sides were that the rooms were very clean, generally staff were friendly and efficient, the actual building was old and had character, the hotel gardens were beautiful and there was an outdoor heated pool. It was about a ten minute walk into St Peter Port down a pleasant road so no problem there - although for those with mobility problems this could be a problem walking back up.
The downsides were that at just under £100/nt per room I would have expected more in terms of the room which was quite dated, although hotel prices in guernsey do seem fairly expensive generally. The breakfasts the first couple of days were excellent (and it was nice eating overlooking the garden) but there was a problem on the last day with a breakfast which was not up to scratch and took ages to come - there was obviously a problem with the chef that day and the waitresses were (understandably) quite annoyed about this.
Overall, an enjoyable stay - the best things about Guernsey for me were the Jerbourg Peninsula with lovely coastal walks and good dining experiences on the island. Not all of the island is especially scenic, however, in my opinion!
