“Now that's a crab!”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

Had a nice leisurely Saturday lunch at The Boathouse and how fortunate to have crab on the menu as it's one of my favourites. Part on the experience of eating a crab is cracking it open and scraping out that lovely meat. Nothing could have prepared me for the gargantuan crustacean adorning my plate. It was huge and probably the most succulent I've ever had and I've eaten crab all over the world. Took best part of an hour to eat and I didn't begrudge a second of it. What a thoroughly nice way to spend a Saturday afternoon and at only £14.95 it was money very well spent.

“Poor Value in Good Surroundings”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

Went this week for lunch with my father. This is a lovely light airy spot by the harbour and on a sunny day is lovely for a drink. We had crab and cocktail starters-miniscule portion of crab and i had one small slice of avocado. My burger for main course was very good; fish pie was mediocre. Meal for two with two glasses of wine each was £80. Not good value. Staff very friendly.

“Superb Location”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

Varied menu, stunning location efficient and friendly staff .Great food in an informal atmosphere.
Table booking appears haphazard until you realise that only inside tables can be reserved ,there is plenty of outside seating with views of the harbour and town and we were lucky with the weather

“A Big Surprise”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

Ever been shocked when your plate arrives and you didn't quite expect what you have been served? My Fiancee and I ordered two Crab salads (£14.90 each) whilst sitting outside in glorious weather in a fabulous location.
The plates arrived with a generous serving of salad and potatoes together with this huge crab covering 2/3rd's of the plate (a whole crab at that).
Some 90 minutes later we sat in the sunshine contented and feeling rather pleased with ourselves. It was as you would expect devoured in full with a couple of G&T's to cleanse the palate.
The staff were very attentive without ever hovering and this place deserves to be packed out every day. Thank you we will most definitely be back.

“HAD HOPED FOR BETTER”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

Lovely position.Brie Fritters were two small [fish finger size] fritters complete with small amount of 'salad' for £6. Very poor value.Friend had prawn cocktail.Tasty as were the fritters but no bread or roll with it!
The young 'waiter' managed to tip beer over my wife and wine down the coat of a nearby diner!! in the space of five minutes!!
Such a pity,could do a lot better.
