“Perfect location...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2013

Sat on the banks of the River Exe overlooking the weir, it is hard to imagine a more perfect location for a pub. If you want relaxing drinks and chat in a peaceful, beautiful location - it is hard to beat! You can eat outside but the internal seating in the bar area is open fronted affording lovely views of the river and ancient bridge. The young complement of staff were efficient, polite and friendly.

The food was nice but I thought my burger and chips was expensive. Admittedly, it was a 'homemade' steak burger, but it only came with a few chunky chips and with 2 additional toppings of a single flat mushroom and bacon (which the chef forgot to include), it was just shy of £13. I would think £10ish would be a more reasonable asking price for that meal. However, the bar seemed to have a good selection of beers which was great for cooling down on a warm, sunny afternoon.

“Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2013

Service excellent. Carvery and puddings for 7 people for just over £90. Not bad. Service excellent. Food good and plenty of it also puddings good and of a good size. Atmosphere very relaxed not pushing you to leave your table for the next booking. Good experience.

“very disappointing meal”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2013

After being fans of the Cot we no longer will be visiting after an extremely poor meal. the menu is not as extensive as it used to be and the portions are meagre to say the least. We all came home hungry and that is not good. Shame as the location is marvellous shame the food no longer isn't!

“Could do so much better !”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2013

We met some friends here recently for Sunday lunch and were able to get table without too much problem. The service and staff all very good. y main criticism is that I strongly objected to having to pay £3.60p for a regular tumbler of Orange juice and lemonade. What a mark up !!! Trying to get the wife on beer now, its cheaper! We all settled for the carvery which was OK for the price but unfortunately the vegetables were not as hot as we would have liked. Overall, a beautiful location by the river and I would expect best to book in the summer months

“Pleasant location, Sunday carvery not so pleasant :-(”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2013 via mobile

Went here for a surprise anniversary dinner with me parents a party of 11of us, the location is very pleasant overlooking the river and the waiting staff are efficient and polite. 7 of our party opted for the carvery, whilst the remaining 4 chose from the menu. Those that chose from the menu seemed reasonably pleased, the carvery lot however, less so, soggy tasteless vegetables and reheated roast potatoes with only the meat putting in a reasonable performance, albeit cold! We were amongst the first people at the carvery, so no excuse really! I would have made more of a fuss but didn't want to ruin my mum and dads special day. Unlikely to go back. Sorry.
