Having been in the US recently, and enjoyed positive, upbeat waiter/waitress service, this was a dose of reality in that front, in terms of the archetypal poor british customer service ethic. The server was monosyllabic and just didnt appear welcoming or enthusiastic about much. Make the effort please, it doesn't hurt to smile a little bit, surely?!
The cafe (ok serving hatch with benchs next to it!) itself is in a wonderful location, overlooking the superb beach. Be warned, if it is windy or wet, you'll be sat in the elements, as all the seating is open, however that is all part of the charm. The food is ok, the coffee was ok, although points off for only having instant decaff. It is also a little pricey. . The beach is full of locals and tourist, and there are lots of surfers too, so the mix of people (and their dogs) enjoying a coffee is cosmopolitan.
So an enjoyable experience, which could be made better by staff who made more of an effort...
