“Very Welcoming”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

We arrived late in the afternoon and met Matt attending to their two lovely children in the garden. He immediately advised us where to park the car before we unloaded. Once settled we met Sophie back from shopping for supplies for our stay. A lovely welcoming family with a beautiful B&B.
Breakfasts set you up for the rest of the day. As mentioned before below it is lovely to find bedding as crisp and white in a B&B. Only two minor points let it down for me no power shower and the mattress was too soft. As for the rest of the stay you wouldn't want to go anywhere else.
Keep up the good work.

We visit Braunton often but since having kids have found it tricky to find a good B&B for quick weekend escapes. I searched and found Silver Cottage for this last weekend and what a find! Absolutely fabulous and brilliant if you've got kids. The cottage adjoins the lovely hosts (Sophie & Matt) house but through thick stone walls. There are two lovely double bedrooms with a shared shower room and the real treat if you've got kids - a sitting room downstairs (with a little kitchenette).

This gave us the freedom to put our (poorly!) 2 year old to bed at 6 and relax downstairs rather than being confined to a bedroom. As we also have a 6 month old who likes to stay up till 10pm it was really useful.

There is a lovely comfy sofa and a couple of chairs in the sitting room, a small table and stools and a fire to keep your toes toasty. The kitchenette was also a wonderful luxury with sink, microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle. So nice to have that available, with crockery, cutlery and glassware. Sophie had even ensured there was a supply of tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits along with some condiments.

The bathroom had lovely towels and even a supply of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner etc great if you've forgotten and the sort of little luxury I never expected in a B&B.

The bed was lovely and comfy with sumptuous pillows and a duvet and luxurious white sheets as good as the best hotels I've stayed in.

That's just the fixtures and fittings... We arrived to be greeted with a delicious, welcome and unexpected home made Devon cream tea, with hot from the oven home made scones and home made raspberry jam. Breakfast was far too good for my own good - fruit salad, toast made with home made bread, home made preserves a full English (one of the best I've ever had, tasty and not greasy) and croissants. You will not leave hungry! I suggest a long hike after breakfast in fact.

There was also copious amounts of quality coffee and fresh pressed home grown apple juice.

Sophie and Matt's children Esme and Albert were also delightful and our daughter and Esme immediately hit it off! It was so lovely for her to play and it gave us a little space to breathe, and Sophie was very welcoming. They spent hours playing princesses. Sophie and Matt were also really friendly and I felt like we were visiting old friends which we really enjoyed. It was a lovely easy going weekend which was just what we needed.

Braunton village is lovely and has our favourite surfshop Tiki Surf, a great fish and chip shop called Squires and Saunton Sands beach just 3 miles away which in my opinion is one of the best beaches in England.

Room Tip: Both rooms really nice, share a bathroom. One room a little larger can accommodate a cot or extra be...

"Silver Cottage is just heaven" (according to Mrs S). This was a memorable B&B - lovely people (Sophie and Matt), the run of our own separate little cottage in the picturesque old part of Braunton, outstanding home produce, and a really warm welcome. The cream tea with homemade scones and jam on arrival was particularly tasty and welcome, after we had walked 17 miles from Woolacombe. We enjoyed meeting Esmee (4) and Albert (2), and very much appreciated the lift down to the start of the next day's walk. We'll be back some day.

Room Tip: The spearate cottage is lovely

We were on our fifth and final day on the coastal path having stayed in a different B&B each night. This was definitely the best. Sophie and Matt have a passion for making their B&B a special and welcoming place to stay. The cream tea with homemade scones was delicious and breakfast equally good. Bedrooms are cosy and the lovely white linen makes them feel luxurious.

What a stroke of luck to come upon after an endless walk from Woolacombe to Braunton on the South West Coast Path. This place is so homey and country pleasant. Do not pass it up. You will be in love. We loved the town too. Sophie made us feel like long lost friends rather than guests. Fabulous......

Room Tip: Both rooms are great.

What a wonderful way to spend a few days. A beautiful cottage set in a gorgeous garden with the friendliest hosts you could ask for & the best breakfast- all locally sourced if not home grown!. The beds & linen are lovely & there is even a self contained lounge & small kitchen for use during the day. The beach is a short drive away & the village a few minutes walk. A perfect place to stay in North Devon. The hosts have young children, but they are in a neighbouring property & do not interfer/disturb your stay if you want peace & quiet. However, they add to your enjoyment of your trip with their happy faces & certaining make the place child friendly!

Silver cottage was a perfect base for a very relaxing and fun weekend in North Devon. We arrived late so didn't get to appreciate quite how cute the property was until waking up next morning, and I did this as a dove was cooing outside our window. There were lots of lovely touches that made the cottage immediately feel like home. Our room had window seats, a very comfy bed with crisp bed linen and big squishy pillows, and fresh cornflowers. The lounge area was a nice place to relax after our packed days of visiting local surfy beaches and nearby towns and villages. Sophie and Matt were brilliant hosts, friendly, helpful, attentive and rather fantastic breakfast chefs. All in all it was a little dream home!

Room Tip: I would have been equally happy with both rooms
