“Idyllic little B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2013

I stayed here for just one night while walking the SWCP. The beautiful little cottage is tucked away in the narrow streets, well away from the main roads. The B&B accommodation is fabulous - being the end section of a lovely old cottage. There is a really comfortable sitting room and two bedrooms upstairs. All are immaculately presented. the location is so quite, there is no traffic noise. The owner, Sophie, is so welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was superb. I wish I could have stayed for longer!

Took my daughter down to Braunton for my brothers 50th birthday party , and there was no room at the Inn, but luckily for us he pointed us in the direction of Silver cottage. A lovely picture post card cottage that oozes Devon charm. The owner made us feel at home and is a charming lady with a flair for the good life, home made bread, jam etc.. and a breakfast to die for . I made sure I secured a Jar of her mothers home made marmalade ( a real prize winner)

Stay , Enjoy, Relax, and soak up Devon charm

You will not be disappointed

We arrived at Silver Cottage , after a long days walk on SWCP to be welcomed by Sophie who offered us a cream tea including freshly made scones , what a great start.

The accommodation itself was excellent. In addition to our bedrooms we had our own lounge including a magic mini-kitchen ( the size of a cubbard but absolutely perfect for our needs) .

The bedrooms themselves were spacious , clean and very comfortable. We both had a good nights sleep and the next morning were treated to an superb breakfast.

Matt and Sophie were wonderful hosts and we very much enjoyed our stay at Silver Cottage. If we return to this area Sliver Cottage will defiantly be first choice of places to stay.

My family and myself have been going to Saunton for over 30 years and after one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had to endure at The Saunton Sands Hotel a couple of years ago I vowed to never stay there again. As a result of a large family reunion this weekend in Saunton I searched Tripadvisor for somewhere recommended to stay where hospitality service and attention to detail actually still mean something and discovered Silver Cottage where all those things long forgotten by large hotel chains are still there.
We could not have been made more welcome and the two bedroomed cottage was perfect for a family of five. Two double bedrooms and a bathroom with just a shower upstairs and a lovely private sitting room with a very small but perfectly adequate kitchen and large dining area where breakfast is served downstairs.
We all slept like logs on very comfortable beds and enjoyed a beautifully cooked breakfast in the morning.
Thank you Sophie and Matthew for a really great stay and look forward to seeing you again next year.

A wonderful place to stay.

It is a little further off the SWCP than I would have liked but more than made up for that by being. Fantastic place to stay. As previous reviewers have said Sophie is a very welcoming host. After a long walk it was lovely to be greeted with coffee and a homemade cream tea on the patio. The miles walked just melted away.

The accommodation is less B&B more half a cottage. I'd have been quite happy moving in! The breakfast was great too.

All in all I couldn't fault Silver Cottage and wouldn't look any further if/when I am next in the area.

Silver Cottage envelopes you from the minute you arrive on the windy hill leading up to the most charming cottage and garden. Matt, Sophie and the children could not be a more enamouring family, and made us feel so very welcome.

The cottage itself has two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living room with a diddy kitchenette. The self-contained nature of the cottage is what drew us to Braunton. When you have children, you do not want to be wasting precious holiday time watching them sleep! Silver Cottage provides you the space to go relax in your own space without worrying about wee ones. The surrounding area has plenty to do for small children- you will most definitely not be bored! The coastline is one of the most incredible in the UK.

The beds and pillows are comfy, with high quality linen. Lots of little details are thought about, and this is what makes the stay so exceptional. Nice toiletries, tea and coffee on the shelves, and little treats (kitkats, I'm looking at you!). The breakfasts are fresh (eggs from the garden), and incredibly tasty. The slow cooked tomatoes are now something that I have to strive to replicate!

However, it is the warmness of the hosts that makes this place special. The optional evening meals that Sophie rustles up are restaurant standard, whilst being shrugged off as 'just home cooking'. The warm and cheery welcome at breakfast, and the well thought out itinerary suggestions surpassed our expectations. We were made to feel like family, and had one of our most enjoyable breaks!

So, to summarise, Ambrosia- you don't deserve to own the title of Devon Dream- hand it over to Sophie and Matt, putting the Brilliant and Bedazzling into B & B!

Matt & Sophie, you have been warned- we will be back!

Sophie has to be the loveliest B+B landlady there is!
Silver cottage is beautifully decorated, the breakfast is incredible (think homemade jams, freshly laid eggs, homemade bread etc etc) and NOTHING is too much trouble.
Sophie obviously enjoys what she does and her family are all so welcoming, including her mum.
There are 2 double rooms with a shared shower room. Our room and the shower room were small but this did not detract from our visit at all, there is even a guest sitting room with a little kitchenette. The rooms are immaculately clean and comfortable.
I can't recommend Silver Cottage highly enough.
