We were lucky enough to have our wedding here in August and it was a fabulous day. The setting is spectacular and the sea views superb. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed excellent food and service in a really relaxed atmosphere, and plan to come back to celebrate our first anniversary.

Room Tip: The Sea View Rooms are spectacular.

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. We had a sea-view room which had the most amazing views over the beach which seems to go on for ever. The room was well equipped and the bed was so comfortable - we had really good nights sleep. We had booked dinner bed and breakfast and we weren't disappointed with the food. Breakfast was excellent and the menus at dinner were also good. The only things we thought were a bit over the top were the supplements on the menus. Fillet steak was an extra £16-ish (but having said that, the meat was absolutely beautiful - the best fillet steak I'd eaten in ages!) All the staff who served us were so polite and eager to please. The welcome at reception when we checked in was excellent. On the whole, we would recommend this hotel and we hope to visit again soon.

Our Last minute decision resulted in a glorious holiday with.Wonderful views ; Sands stretching to eternity; warm attentive hospitality; one was smothered by comfort and attention.Good ambience; cared for by young, cheerful well-trained smiling staff who cared for us beautifully: nothing was too much trouble; EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE. Our comfortable.Sizeable Bedroom had all mod-cons.Well laid out fascilities within this sparkling hotel with lots of space ,wide passage ways, large reception rooms and excellent modern new carpetting.Excellent large modern clean Swimming pools and Saunas inside and out : A SORT OF PARADISE. THE BREND GROUP HAVE MUCH TO BE PROUD OF and their management congratulated on the spicK and span operation they deliver as they welcome and look after their guests.
We hesitate inwriting this tribute as we fear our satisfaction could attract so many that we might have difficulty in obtaining accommodation next year !
If this be the case, at least we have lovely memories of a very worthwhile and happy holiday; THANK YOU THE BRENDS. Our Best Wishes until next year Daryl C of Bedfordshire ( a COUPLE , who like their comforts ).

We spent 5 days at Saunton Sands hotel the staff were all most helpful, polite and friendly. The only issue we had was with the restaurant at dinner time the length of time we had to wait between courses was unacceptable, one evening it was 50 mins.after we had finished are starter before we got our main course, no one came and said anything to us and we thought we had been forgotten'. Then when they informed my husband they had run out of spotted dick, one of his favorite puddings, he was not amused.

Room Tip: Sea facing rooms have the most beautiful view and the sunset over the sea, magnificent .

We had a lovely wedding day here on the 6 July 2013. Weather was great, the sun was out and had A*** service from all the staff that helped make our day run so smoothly! Could not fault anything. Everybody enjoyed themselves and they all commented to us what a lovely hotel! Thank you again to all at Saunton Sands, it was amazing!

Our trip to the Saunton Sands Hotel was part of a party to celebrate a local haulier’s 40 years in business.
We arrived at around 6.15 pm and were met by a very pleasant young man who carried our case into reception. We then waited a few minutes for the receptionist to finish her conversation and come out of the back office, it was not a business matter as there was much hilarity and she apologised as she came out to meet us.
We went to our room 403 briefly to leave our bags and then carry on to the reception. The room was small, dated but seemed clean. It had a very uninspiring view of the swimming pool roof and the constant hum of an air conditioning unit. It was unbearably hot so we open the windows.
The evening meal was pleasant enough; my husband ordered six bottles of wine for the table. The white wine was delivered without a cooler and left to warm up on the table! After the meal we were all called outside for a photo of the guests. We returned to the restaurant to collect our belongings and found my husband’s expensive Oswald Botang suit jacket screwed up on a side table with other bags etc. piled on top. We had a full bottle of wine on the table this had also gone missing. The staff present, were less than helpful as to its whereabouts.
After a hot restless night’s sleep, in a very small bed, with the accompanying loud hum from outside we awoke. We both attempted to have a shower, it was almost impossible; the shower hose was so short the head of the shower would not extend above my shoulder and my husband’s chest. To wash you had to hold the shower head and try and soap up with the other hand. In the morning light it was also apparent how grubby the bathroom was. The venetian blind was covered in a layer of dark grey dust, the grout was heavily stained and the door paint work was soiled with make-up marks and dirty fingerprints.
Breakfast was disappointing. There was very obviously a two tier system with ‘guests’ being directed to the window tables and ‘party goers’ being shown to vast communal tables with large milk jugs and a buffet set up. I poured an orange juice and then realised the glass was smeared with red lipstick I gave it to the waiter who took it from me without a word and then proceeded to wipe it with his tea towel. The buffet was adequate but I wanted a treat for breakfast.
It was very difficult on such large tables to share the one large ‘school’ canteen style jugs for milk. Eventually smaller jugs were brought out.
On settling our bill, the receptionist asked if we had had a good stay, we told her about the shower and she quite abruptly told us we could have moved rooms. We were told on booking the hotel was full, as we asked for a deluxe room, she then said ‘Who told you that?’ we repeated when we booked and she again barked ‘who was it told you that?’. I then mentioned the cleanliness in the bathroom and was ignored. If you don’t want an answer then don’t ask the question.
So to sum up a disappointing stay, even though we were part of a large party we had still paid for the privilege and we should have received the experience of a 4 star hotel. We both travelled widely and have visited many hotels and feel that the Saunton Sands relies on its position and forgets about the basics of good hospitality. To say a 2 star room with a 4 star position is very true. We have both had more comfortable and pleasant experiences in a Premier Inn for half the cost.

Room Tip: Check your room and go down and complain if you are not happy straight away.

Hotel situation fabulous with excellent views from our sea-facing room. Hotel was clean and staff were pleasant and helpful. Service in the Dining room was slow and the food was, generally speaking "very mediocre". To have to make your own toast with a "premier Lodge" type toaster at breakfast, I felt was an insult for a patron of a 4 star Hotel!! The food was often luke warm and the young person cooking the breakfast had obviously suffered a personality By-pass.The standard of cuisine has definately deteriorated over the years and quite honestly I resent paying nearly £700 for a 3 day break.I had a steak on two evenings and neither one was particularly tender and both came at a tepid temperature and the presentation lacked finesse.I felt that £20 for a bottle of "Brend's" house wine (the cheapest available) was excessive and I would have thought the wine waiter would have known not to keep putting the screw top back on the bottle after topping up our glasses,so it could breathe!!
