We are regulars to Saunton having also stayed at sister hotels of the Brend group. We have three children boys of 15, 7 and nearly 6. Each and every time we come we are greeted like family. The 2 youngest of our kids love Antonia who runs the kids club and the 15 year old loves to wander the dunes and keeps himself busy with all the many games and hotel leisure facilities.

We decided to stay for Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day. Well the hotel and staff surpassed all previous visits even with the hotel being full. It was nothing short of superb. Well done Saunton Sands Hotel. Fab, fab, fab. Loved the Gala dinner on Boxing Day. We all loved the idea of dressing up inblack tie and ladies in full length dress. Mother, father in law and sister in law with husband came too. 9 of us all pampered and very satisfied.

Sadly home to cooking for ourselves again. Booked up for next year!!!!!

This hotel has a superb location, looking out over the sand dunes and beautiful sandy bay. It is a real pleasure to stay, the hotel facilities are first class, restaurants and food of the highest order, and most important of all attention and efficient staff. Ample car parking with a marvellous golf course (Saunton) just a few hundred yards down the road. A sister hotel to Carlyon Bay in South Devon. Both have a touch of style and preserved standards.

Room Tip: Request a room with a sea view overlooking the bay.

I stayed at Saunton Sands for three nights in late November. Having three sisters in Devon its seemed a lovely chance to take a break and enjoy the sea air. The ocean view room was lovely but the first night was disturbed by a rather noisy radiator. I was graciously moved the next day. This is a really friendly hotel and great value for money. The service and food in the restaurant were excellent and I really enjoyed my stay. I will certainly return in the New Year.

We stayed for 3 nights with Friends early Dec( all 6 of us have been before) This time our ocean view room on top floor was the best place to view the stunning views of the stormy weather that came that w/end. The food in the restaurant served on the 1st night was excellent, given that 3 of our part are Vegan/ no dairy/ fussy eaters!. The head chef came & spoke to them and agreed suitable menus( nice touch). However the 2nd night Saturday, we were Not told that it was a "Festive Menu" on offer only, we only found this out when having an afternoon tea in the lounge about 4pm, we were Disappointed with the whole meal, even our Vegan friend's separate menu was simply tasteless, nowhere were we informed in either the booking/ arrival or even a note under the door. It let the whole w/end down .On a plus note as mentioned elsewhere all the staff were very pleasant/ helpful. our room although newly refurbished did have a annoying "querk" in the bathroom, when next door used the water/ shower/ bath, our shower simply stopped working, ( with me using the shower on 2 occassions.
All of the above has been reported via the Hotel Questionairs, so nothing should be a "surprise " to Management.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms always.

We have stayed at Saunton for over 30 years and are regular visitors, see previous reviews. We stayed with our two boys over October half term 2013 and had the usual great time.

It's been said many times before, but the location of the hotel is unbeatable, and the hotel facilities are extensive. Sea views are certainly worth paying for.

I have previously stated that I thought the restaurant was not as good as it has been historically, but is still good. We did notice an improvement this year, with more variety on the dinner menu, with more daily changes and specials, a definite improvement.

Entertainment is good in the evenings, but has been the same for many years. My kids have the seen the same childrens entertainers for many years, and whilst they still enjoy them, it may be worth looking for new talent?

Overall remains a fabulous family holiday venue.

Went back here for our usual Christmas Party evening. This time it was "back to the 80's". We had our usual wonderful sea view room at a preferential "party" rate, although they do not give you a box of chocs and bath robes spread out any more,
The Christmas turkey meal taken with around 150 or so others was very disappointing. Even at 7pm the sprouts and cauliflower cheese on offer were already soggy and overdone and the plated turkey was luke warm. In common with other eateries we have visited recently the starter was by far the best part of the meal (and the wine of course). We didn't come for the food - more for the entertainment and having eaten early we were able to enjoy a half-hour of the dance-floor to ourselves. In the morning we enjoyed the vista of Saunton Sands with its early surfers in the sunlight.

Room Tip: If you can afford it go for the full frontal

This hotel was fantastic, loved every single minute of staying here. Rooms are spotless, great quality , the decor was expensive and tastefully done. Zip linked beds were fantastic quality, Sheets and bedding pure cotton, very high thread count. Crisp and white. There was a full mini bar. The service is second to none. Nothing was too much trouble. Our evening meal was super, food and service was fantastic. Staff were all happy , polite and made us feel so welcome. Breakfast was great, all cooked perfectly. Our room had patio doors out onto a small balcony which had amazing views out onto the miles of empty beach. . The December winds made the surf look stunning. We will definitely be returning. We were there on 16th Dec and so it was decorated for Christmas which was brilliantly done. I couldn't think of any way this hotel could be improved.

Room Tip: We were in 118 and our relatives were in 111 which had a bigger balcony than ours and also had loung...
