“Good location very clean but lacked finishing touches”
Reviewed 21 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

Just returned from a stay in 1 Middle Manor Cottages where we speant 4 nights with my wife and brother/sister-in-law. We booked through Blue Chip who offer 4 & 5 star accomodations.
The good parts were that the property is in a good location just a short stroll into town and the harbour although just to make people aware it is down a short steep hill. The whole place was very clean and the kitchen was spacious and modern.
I am sorry to say that is about all of the good points for me. Maybe we missed it in the description but theproperty in over 3 floors with kitchen on the entry level, lounge downstairs and bedrooms upstairs.
Parking was horrendous and the property does not have an allocated space. We were told to park outside but never had a sniff at a space the whole stay !
Next option was the next road up but again the closest space was right at the end and on a hill. Go further up and then you are faced with a very steep set of steps to go up and down.
As we have stayed in Blue Chip apartments before maybe we have spoiled ourselves but being marketed as 4/5 star luxury I can't help but question areas such as the bathroom with a small bath and over bath shower, the bed was soft and not close to what was expected as it also squeaked everytine you moved in it and was very soft so woke up each morning with a stiff back. The lounge was spacious enough but for the odd rainy day and an early night the TV was miniscule for todays standards (probably about 26") and the finishing touches like the trailing leads and ariel were not great. Speaking of finishing touches although i appreciate the gesture of providing toiletries if you market as 4/5 star accomodation I would not expect to find Sainsburys Basics in the bathrooms. Either go whole hog or not at all.
Just as a side note as not everybody want to use the mobile on holiday but i needed it to stay in contact with work and the signal was poor at best if you actually got a signal at all. No 3G here but can get it in town and funnily enough also in the middle of the bay on the ferry to Torquay.
Also there is a church just up the road and it chimes the bells on the hour and half hour every hour which the others said they heard in the front bedroom.
I may be sounding a bit harsh as we did still enjoy our stay in Brixham but as described maybe the accomodation just needed those last finishing touches.

The cottage is very nice ,clean and well done but has poor parking and on some occasions we couldn't find anywhere to park at all, which made it quite stressful .

“Contemporary Living in Quaint Seaside Village”

After hunting through several websites we setted on this property for our week away with friends. Arriving in Brixham we called the owner as arranged, who then met us at the house with the keys and extra towels. Parking was a little challenging as it is on road only and not allocated to the property, however this was not too much of a pain as there was plenty on the street above. Inside, the property was wonderful, very clean, well looked after and with all the 'mod cons'. You walk in to the middle floor with a single bedroom, shower room and well fitted kitchen. Stairs then take you either up to the two double bedrooms and family bathroom or down to the lounge, another single bedroom and a small study with an airing cupboard. I would highly recommend this as a base for your holiday, but not suitable for those who are not 'firm of foot'!
